Noise in my system ?

I have a 2010 charger sxt that I just installed a sound system in to. The system is made of 3 amps, 1 JBL 1200w RMS that power 2 12" Alpine Type R, an 800w rms Fosgate Punch that powers a single Fosgate 10" P3 Punch in the rear deck and an alpine PDX 4x100w rms that power my Alpine Type S mids and highs. I used all oxygen free RCA cables, all 100% copper power cables with distro blocks for the amps. I made sure I did everything right. Yet I am still getting a faint whine in the system when my engine accelerates, very frustrating. Both positive and negative are run directly from the battery terminals as the battery is mounted in the trunk. Please Help!

why did my subwoofer catch on fire?

Had a shop install my jl audio dvc w3 in a 2010 lexus gs w the mark levinson system. The amp is a jl audio 5 channel. He ran the jl amp thru the factory inside speakers, not sure if he was still using the mark levinson amp or not, and used the fifth channel to run the sub. Before he put the sub in, he said one of the voice coils was blown. He said he can still put it in, but it wouldn't play as loud and will probably blow soon if u play it too loud. So I figured why not just throw it in for a while if it will still play. Two months later out of nowhere, and I wasn't even playing it loud, the sub caught fire. I smelled smoke coming from the trunk, opened it, and the sub was literally in flames. I had to pull the box out and throw it on the ground. Nothing else was damaged, but it coould have been really bad. My question is how could the sub have possibly caught fire? Was this an installer error? Was this an equipment error? Who's fault is this? The amp should still be ok, but not sure. Any help would be great

Head Unit Not Putting Out Power From Subwoofer Outputs - Dead RCA AV ?

Trying to hook up my system and I found the problem to be the head unit is not putting out signal through the RCA / subwoofer outputs. I dont understand this because everything on the CD player works. I have tried 4 different CD players and 4 pairs of RCA cables and still same problem. Please help

dashboard lights are dimming ?

I have a 2001 Aurora v6 I just installed my pioneer deh-3800 2011 and I all installed my wiring kit because I'm getting a amp soon. I do not have the wire going to a amp there just taped off. The dashboard lights dimmer when I turn the music up high. I do not have any door speakers right now there all stock. I hook the power wire up to the batter its a 4guage but it took me a while to get it in and because the power wire the screw for the battier is not screwing in all the way and when it starts getting tight it losens out of no were so I stop tightening it before it losens what could stop it and what are the the possibilities that could be wrong

How do I install an Alpine MRP M2000 amplifier?

I would like to know the correct DIY process of installing this amplifier. I am planning to install 2 amps with the other one being a 4 channel amp to power the speakers. Would someone be able to guide me as to how I can install these two amps starting from scratch including advice on whether to install a capacitor, and if so, how many farads, as well as all the wiring that will be required for this install including any distribution blocks etc. Thanks

RF 6x9's keep throwing amps into protect mode ?

I immediately turned the deck off, pulled over and popped the trunk. Touched the amp and it was warm to the touch but not hot by any means. I got back in the car and turned everything back on, backed the vlm on the deck down by about 15. Rode around for a little bit more then slowly started turning the vlm back up. At this point the speakers cut out all together. Checked the trunk and the amp had been thrown into protect mode. Turning the deck off and back on makes the speakers come back on immediately. Protect mode again. At this point I drove home and bumped the amps gain down from 4 to about 2. The system played until vlm on deck went all the way up then protect mode again. Bumped gain down to 1.5 and now they will play without cutting out. So the next day my friend brought me another Sony Explode Amp this time 500W. To save a lot of back story the amp immediately went into protect mode when the gain was raised above about 1.5. No smell this time just protect mode. So today I stop by the car st

hi, i have recently purchased a clarion cz500a deck and installed it myself in my car i have sony xplod rear speakers amp and also xplod subwoofer all the wiring appears to be in good nick and in the right place. i receive full sound including subwoofer on 'cd' and 'tunner' but the aux and bluetooth when connecting my ipod for example results in poor sound with no subwoofer. this is very confusing to me beacuse i recieve good sound on radio and cd so i know all the connections are in the right place......???

Stereo only works with headlights on ?

Just a noob question here. The two power wires from the car to the stereo are red and orange, I thought the red one was constant, and the orange is labeled 'illumination'. These are the only two wires I can see that are not speaker cables. I have interchanged them with the yellow and red wires going to the stereo which doesn't seem to make a difference.

Stalk adapter ?

I am atemping to fit a sony stereo and have the unit and leads which come with the unit.and stalk contol adapter the only lead i am missing is the patch lead for the sony stereo I wanted to put the stereo in and wait for the lead to arrive but tried it and cant get power to the stereo. from the stalk adapter there are black and red lead does this mean this is also providing power to the stereo

Installing new deck in 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500?

What parts do you need to install a deck in a 2000 Silverado? I can not get a straight answer from any stores... so I thought this might work better. Best Buy told me that I will need an extra $200 dollars worth of equipment to install it... just because 2000 gm's are different. Then other places said that that wasn't right. I don't want to buy a deck then have to spend a bunch just to install it... so I want to calculate about how much it's going to cost me. So am I just going to need the couple cheap kits/parts for this vehicle... or were they right when they said it's different? THANKS!

How to Wire - 2000 Ford Countour ?

Hey guys/girls, I am trying to figure out how to Rewire my 2000 Ford Contour's(L Vin if it matters) wiring. My old wiring got screwed up and shorted by a chick that ran a red light and crunched her - i finally got my car fixed but at the moment I am having to run my speakers through audio wire that i have hiding under my seats for now. The problem I am having is getting the audio wire through the frame of the body through the connector on the door. It has a clasp like mechanism that I cannot get around but do not know how to get through either. I could just drill a hole there and protect it with some kind of conduit but I'd rather do it right. If I could get an answer with a descent explanation I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Chance

Im selling my car and have pulled my very expensive audio system out and will be installing it into my new car. The wiring kit i have was quite expensive (kicker wiring kit $200AUD) and i would like to reuse it for my new car. The guy who pulled my system out from my current car said its not good to transfer the wiring kit into the new car because you get kinks and things which damage the wire and affects the sound quality. Is this true or is this sales guy trying to get me to fork out another $200 for a brand new wiring kit which is completely unnecessary???

I am running two 12" Kicker CompVR sub woofers powered by a 2-Channel Sony XPlod 1200 watt amplifier. I bought the Schosche wiring and capacitor combo pack. It comes with 5+ gauge wire (although it doesn't specify whether is copper clad aluminum or straight copper) and a capacitor. Is this wiring kit good enough for my set up. I don't want to over heat my amp or anything.

Just purchased a brand new stereo, speaker system, and installation kit for 99Ford Taurus Sedan. Just need someone to do the labor. Looking for a ballpark price estimate for the whole system. Nothing special for speakers. Just 2 speakers in the back of the car. There are currently none. I bought everything at Circuit City, but they are no longer doing installation. They sold everything needed for someone else to do it. Car audio amp installation help!?

I need help installing my amp into a 91 buick regal. I want to hook my amp up to the factory stereo. I saw a blog online that showed how to do it. It states that by splicing into the back speakers and connecting them to the wires going into the amp in the "input levels" , then hooking up my sub to the amp output speaker slots. I hooked up the ground and also the 12v power wire with the fuse to the battery. I dont have any power to the amp. Nothing. My amp has a 40amp fuse. If the fuse is dead would there be no power at all? I have no idea, can someone help?

Audio shop messup caused damage to break power booster.?

I have a 2008 honda civic still under manufacturers warranty While shoping around for an amplifier installation I stumbled upon this small shop that would install the amp for a decent price and the guy seemed trustworthy so I decided to give him a shot . He did a great job installing the amp and when I tried to drive away I noticed the breaks seemed hard and spongy , having expirience with cars in my younger years I imediatly knew it was something with vacum or the power booster assembly , I drove back (barely) and after inspection he admited he may had drilled trough the power booster while looking for a way trough the firewall.After I helped him some we patched up the booster unit somehow and I was able to drive away home at least with no problems , he offered to pay for the repair as long as I did it with his mechanic and his parts , and it would take a couple of days to get the part over . I'm a little worried , he seems like a nice guy and all but my concerns is that god knows what part he is going to get and from were , and I don't know if any after market parts may void my warranty. So my question to you guys is : What can I do to protect myself just in case he tried to rig it and I'm not happy with the fix and/or The mechanic trying to get any parts from my car since it's new? Also how about if I say screw it and take it to the dealer , what would be the way about suing for repairs if he refuses to pay and what can I sue him for ,?does a small store like that have to have some sort of insurance ? he did mention he had some ,but does he have to pay me by law? I only had the car for less than a month so it was recently certified by Honda to be in good shape so there is no talking his way out of this . All I have at this point is a recept for the work done to the amp , should I file a police report or something ? Thank you in advance.

here is the sbu&: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280416296965&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT on the back of the receiver(Jensen cd4610) it says: *pre amp rca(live out) gray(rear)- red :right white:left black(front)-red:right white:left *pre amp rca (aux in) yellow- red-right white-left *pre amp rca(subwo0fer out) blue- mono in the manual the pre amp rca's are also named:RCA Outputs to Amplifier but then there is the single blue rca cable which says subwoofer output QUESTIONS: 1) my amp comes with two rca's, so i am guessing that i have to connect the amp to the PRE AMP RCA(line out), but there is the grey(rear) rca's and the black(front) rca's. so which pair should i connect my amp to? 2)there is a dark blue wire called power antenna, is this the same as the amp turn on wire?, and if so can i just cut off a piece of the rubber along a part of the dark blue wire and connect the amp turn on wire to it?

I am buying a car audio cd deck but in about a year I am going to sell the car. And I want to switch it back to the factory. They are charging $50, is that how much it would cost else where? Including the kits and everything. I like the products but I don't like the people there. So if Best Buy installs it do I get my factory stuff back? I also want to know what they do with all those parts. Some of the parts I have are a little damaged but it is still able to function properly.

8-OHM 15" PA speaker able to run off car-audio amp?

I have the amp listed in the kit at http://www.magnum-audio.com/ with 1000watts peak capacity. No clue exactly what resistance it does/can run at, though I am guessing 4 or 2 ohms (IE like every other car amp). I also have a 15" RadioShack PA speaker which, I swear, produces MUCH clearer deep bass and runs at 8-OHMs resistance. The Magnum subs seem to stress/distort far before the amp "flashes red" so I'm guessing the amp has power to spare. My question is...is there any way to, say, safely bridge the connection from the amp to the Magnum Audio subs to the 15" speaker then back to the amp or just straight from the amp to the RadioShack PA speaker without it damaging the speaker due to "expected resistance" conflicts? And, if so, what extra connectors will I need? Frankly I am rather embarrassed I spent about $350, parts + installation, on a car-audio system that gets beat by my $60 Radio-Shack PA speaker and $120-ish 100-watt RMS amp far as bass output... Additional info: I also have 2 12" PA speakers available either of which I can parallel wire to each other or the 15" for a 4-OHM resistance system, in case that helps make anything more safe.

I won't be installing the car audio myself, the installation will be done by a certified car audio installer (FutureShop). I have been told it will, and I have been told it won't; so I want someone to let me know for sure... if you are sure about your answer of course. Does installing Car Audio void the car's warranty if it causes a malfunction to another part of the car, let's say after a few months, even if its installed by a certified installer? I don't know how much of this information matters but here are the details: Car: 1995 Nissan 200sx (2 door) - aftermarket deck and speakers already installed Subs: Two 12in Polk Subs in a ported enclosure Amp: 900 Watt Kenwood Amp KAC-9104D I don't have any cables or installation parts other than what comes in the manufacturer's boxes, so I'll need the prices of those too. Complete Audio Installation Package?

Okay, so I have a 1995 Toyota Camry Le Sedan 4dr, with the default AM/FM and cassette deck and stock speakers. I have finally decided that it is time to upgrade. So, here are the components I plan to install: Deck: Sony Xplod CDX-GT62IPW Front Speakers: Sony Xplod XS-GTX1640 Rear Speakers: Polk Audio db651s Subwoofer: Blaupunkt GTt-1200 Sub Amp: Profile HA700M I plan to order from Crutchfield, so I get the wiring harness, etc free. The amp doesn't come with anything extra. Also I plan to install a security system: Crime Guard 350i5 I have never done anything with my car, but I think I'm up to the challenge. The only DIY stuff I do is build my own computers. Any recommendations or changes? Is there anything I forgot? BTW these parts cost about $600. I don't want to go too much above that. Did I get ripped off on my sub system/amp for my car? Kicker 12' and Arc Audio 500 watt?

Basically I got a system today. I drive a small 2009 Sports Jetta so, keep that in mind Basically, I got a 500 Watt Arc Audio And a 500 Watt(?) CompVR boxed Kicker 12' Subwoofer, +A switch underneath the wheel +Installation All for $340. Now, heres the *#@$ed up part- I didn't get my receipt some how along the line so I'm not even sure how much I spent on which specific part! It hits pretty hard but not as hard as I'd like, but I'm unsure of if its ripped off / bad brand / too low maximum price range, so if you could help me out with this thats much appreciated Did I get ripped off? Is it the brands? Is this expected with my maximum money? I have a 2000 Bonneville SSEI and I will be running 900 watts RMS my car has the original alternator and this is the battery CCA: 880; Battery is vented to outside of vehicle; 30 Minute Installation; Located under rear seat; OE Group Size: 79; OE CCA Rating: 880 I believe it's some knock off from advanced auto parts....however the damn thing was somehow $150!!!! Which head unit is better?

I want to be able to play music from my iphone in my car at the best possible quality, and be able to control the iphone through the car, so I was told I need something with a USB connection. After going to Circuit City and getting quoted for $800, I went to an actual car audio place. Pioneer Premier DEH-P400UB is standard on all of these packages. My current head unit only has 1 output that's powering my after market speakers. They they all include sales tax, the stated sub, box, an amp, and installation (and all parts). 2 12 inch subs -- 663.21 1 12 inch sub -- 532.71 2 10 inch subs -- 608.84 1 10 inch sub -- 500.09 Are these good prices? Installing an auxiliary audio input in factory stereo?

I am currently driving a 1998 Dodge Durango with a the factory stereo still installed. Up until today I had been listening to my Satellite radio by utilizing the cassette adapter. Today the player was suddenly unable to play the cassette. It will click and wind but after a few tries it simply ejects the cassette adapter. I bought a new adapter with the same results. Must be the tape deck I assume. Now I am thinking I want to install an auxiliary audio input so that I can get better quality sound out of both my satellite radio as well as be able to plug my ipod in. I have no desire and no funds to purchase a brand new head unit for this car. I want the simplest and cheapest option. Does anyone have any knowledge about how this can be done? What pieces and parts would I need? I am decent with electronics and fairly experienced in stereo installation, but not with this car. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

aftermarket cd player installation?

I want to put an aftermarket cd player in my car but went to my local audio shop to get the things i needed and was told that my door chimes and stuff was ran through the radio. the piece he wanted to sell me was 80 dollars. I found an interface adapter at my local walmart and it says it will work as long as there is no onstar or onstar will be bypassed. Im 16 years old, and ever since I was about 8 or 9, ive been like obsessed with car audio/video, and all that kinda stuff. I didnt really know what i wanted to do after high school, but now I think i wanna open up my own shop for car audio/video, and installation, and then when im older, and know buisness is good, open a shop up like "West Coast Customs", or "Unique Autosports" and be able to do all that fabrication type work too. Car subwoofer installation question?

I am looking at purchasing a Boss Audio BASS800 10-Inch Amplified Subwoofer. Is anyone familiar with these? I have a memphis 10" right now, but its a few years old and looking for something new. My main concern is, how is this installed in the car? Its akward shape, being round, I cannot visualize it in the car, and I cannot find any pics online of it installed to get an idea. I'm going to have some kicker cvr 12" subs installed; I have a 1000 watt crunch power zone amp for now. My question: Is it better to get 2 ohm subs and wire them parallel to mono. ( the amp has a switch to use in mono mode.) or would it be better to get 4 ohm subs and wire in stereo? I heard somewhere I would get better bass and less stress on amp with 2ohm subs wired parallel on mono. what's the pros and cons of the differences? any help appreciated.

I recently bought 2 15 inch MA Audio subs for my car with a 1600 watt amp and alpine deck, all of which brand new except for the deck, my car battery has been fine before the installation and the battery would never die, now as my subs have been hooked up my battery dies every time i shut the car off, to my knowledge everything was hooked up right because the guy i had install it has done it plenty of other times, i have a kill switch for the battery, if i install this will this stop of is something else wrong???please help...thanks

Hi all, thanks for reading my question! I have a subwoofer and amplifier from my older car and would like to install them for my new car (Toyota Highlander). The CD stereo is the original stock, and I have already taken it out of the dashboard and checked what optional outputs it has on the back. It actually did not have a subwoofer output. When I asked car audio staff at Best Buy, he said that we can use a splitter (I am not sure if it is correct) and get the cable hooked up from the speakers on the door. I know if I take my car to car audio shops, I can get it done fast. But I dnt want to leave my car for a few days because I need to drive it everyday. Have someone done this before ? The problem did not begin until after I installed the system. But the installation was well done. The car would stop at stop lights or when i slow down and the RPMs drop. It is a 1000 watt amp and 1200 watt subwoofer. I removed them from the first car i have and had no problems with that one. But now I do with this one.

Ok, I've been having some trouble with this but. I was able to get a 12" Pioneer Sub, a Lightning Audio B4.250.2 Amp, and a Pioneer Premier DEH-P600UB for a very reasonable price now i want to put it in my car. The problem seems to be my car, a 1999 328i w/ Harmon Kardon Sound System (this sound system has approx 12 speakers in the car if that helps), and that is supposedly where the problem lies. Because of this ive been getting estimates of $300 for just the head unit installation. Now my question for all of you is, is there another alternative to not using the head unit and without using a modulator to get the same quality sound and control that i would have with the Premier. and other suggestions are possible and open for discussion to keep the Premier because I would really like to so thank you in advance if you can help me out with this! ok, so i have a toyota carolla 2005, but the original speakers just don't cut it, the bass can barely be heard from outside the car at full blast! so i called bestbuy, they told me that a $119 subwoofer would do the job, but would i need 1 or 2 to do the job? i just want a bass booster that is hear-able, and will also allow for me to listen to my music w/ quality just not pumping bass...but wut i am really looking for is for when i am driving down the street the bass is easily hear-able by ppl. so would i need 1 or 2 subwoofers for that?

Acura RSX Speakers/Subwoofer Installation?

I am 17 and just got my first car - silver acura rsx 2002 (not type s). I love listening to music in my car and am a big fan of drum n bass. The stock speakers in the car are not very good, so i was looking into replacing them. I am completely new to this and do not know about cars so... I was wondering if it would be hard to install new speakers in the doors / new subwoofer in the back. Should I pay a bunch more and get bestbuy to install them for me? Or should I do it myself? 2003 Toyota Tundra New Alpine 18wX4 RMS Stereo Factory Speakers (Front Seperates, Rear CoAxls) Question: I am installing a set of new Polk seperates and have one side in. The problem is the factory side sounds better than the new speakers. What am I doing wrong? I have: Made sure the woofers are sealed (no air gaps) in the factory locations, Double checked the wiring. I have an amp to put in which will provide about 75w RMS to each front set. I know this will help, but shouldn't the new speakers sound better than the factory speakers now?

Car door speaker installation help?

Hi, i have stripped down my car door but i am having problems as to which wires i should use. On my new speaker there are spaces for 2 wires but on my orginal speaker there is a connector with 4 wires going in (shown in pic). I think the white and black wires come from the tweeters at the top of the door. I do not know what the other 2 wires are for (green&brown and red&green). Can someone advise me on which wires i should use to connect directly to my new speakers. I have speakers to put into my car, but the speakers i took out had this clip on them that connected them to the wires that went to the deck. Whwere do i get these clips? Are they all the same? How do i put the clip on the speaker? I forgot to mention i already have a shitty aftermarket sony 45x4 headunit in the car. But those factory plugs/clips/filters whatever, were still being used.

I installed new Boston Acoustic speakers in my Civic in the back, and they sound horrible. The factory speakers were much better - better clarity, louder, more bass. Did I do something wrong? FYI - I'm using the stock receiver.

I have infinity speakers and i have a 2005 ford mustang. i got the car harness for it, but i dont know where to plug the peaker wire in at. Theres a positive and negative slot in the speakers and black and white cord for the harness...theres a chart on the back of the packaging and the ground is black and the white says left front+...so do the white goes into the positive of the infinity speaker?

I have an older Mazda Miata that only has 2 speakers ( 1 per door ). I purchased a radio from Best Buy as the previous one had been ripped out through the roof before I purchased this car. The radio I purchased was a cdx-GT310 ( sony ). It has 4 X 52 W output for speakers. The sales rep stated that the installation instructions would tell me how to convert that to 2 X something output, but they do not. I have a Honda Accord 2003 LX and I would really like to upgrade my audio system to have an attachment for an aux port, namely an ipod. I went to best buy and they suggested getting an alpine system however, because of the way the heat system is set up in the honda I would have to do more research to find out how to get it replaced. And when it comes to messing with the air conditioning and heat systems to just be able to play an ipod, plus like 130 dollar installation fee (not including the price of the new head unit) is it really worth it/can best buy actually do this without messing things up. Plus the salesperson tried to get me to think about a new amplifier too which seemed like totally unneeded with what i want to do. If anyone has any suggestions or anything or maybe another reputable location please let me know. Thanks!!!

Difficult Car Audio Wiring Question?

Hi, a couple months ago, I installed a 10" sub into the trunk of my 06 civic coupe. I wired it up to the stock CD deck, which has no RCA hookups, so I used a line-out converter, wired through the 6.5" speakers in the rear to hook the RCA cables into my amp/sub. With me so far? Good. Now today I installed an aftermarket CD deck that DOES have RCA hookups, and as soon as I finished the installation and turned on the deck, my subwoofer started to hum uncontrollably. I got it to stop by turning the amp level way down, but now I have very little bass. Whats the problem? Do I have to go back and wire the RCA plugs from the amp, all the way up front to the new CD deck? Is that what's causing that awful humming from my subwoofer?

Car Audio system power flickers off @ 85% volume?

I've had my system (two 10" subs, new speakers, 1200w amp) for about a year, and all of a sudden the power in the deck and amp cuts out when I go past a certain volume (30/35), but comes right back on. I was told I need a capacitor, but then I went back to the same place and a different guy said it could be the wiring needing an upgrade to a 4 guage and won't be able to tell until after they install it (meaning pay to test it out) if I need a capacitor (pay for wiring upgrade + installation + capacitor + installation). He even said that the wiring and capacitor might not be the problem but I'd be paying for it all anyway if it didn't work. Any advice?

Replacing factory CD player in 2001 Toyota Celica GT?

Over the weekend, the CD player in my 2001 Celica suddenly stopped working. After starting the car, I ejected the CD in the player, then tried to put in another one - and the loader did not pull the disc in. Additionally, when I push the 'CD' button on the audio console, nothing happens. I can switch between AM, FM 1/2, and Tape without issue. But when I push the 'CD' button, it's as if the console can't tell that the CD player is there. So my question is really two-part: 1) What might be the problem? Could it be a blown fuse? I kind of doubt it, since the rest of the audio system is working fine. More likely it's something with the CD player itself. So... 2) If the player has gone bust, how hard is it to replace? The CD player, tuner, and tape player seem pretty tightly integrated; I imagine any replacement will involve putting a new all-in-one audio system in, no? For a car audio rookie, is it best to let the folks at Circuit City do the installation for you? Thanks!

I have an 88 dodge omni and im looking to put a small system in it. I have 2 12" kicker comp subs that say they are 150 watt and i'm probably going to pick up 2 cheap speakers. i just installed a second amp to power my subs. the lights did dim a little when the bass hit before, but now some songs turn my head lights into strobe lights, dimming to almost nothing. I checked out my options and i decided against a high output alternator because for an 07 grand prix it would run me over $250. Im not sure what im looking for in a capacitor. right now im running 2 KAC 7204 1000w peak amps 2 KFC W3012 1200w peak subs 2 Gauge wiring kit I'm trying to keep it under $100 but ideally I'd like to keep it in the $30-$40 range.

I just purchased everything I will need to put a system in my 1987 e30 bmw. System includes: -Two 12" JL subs -Monster cables 8 gauge -600watt Visonik (4 channel V304xt) amp ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures.... ) -Jenson MP6212 A friend of mine helped me with the installation. Here's what I have done: 1.) RCA cables hooked in the rca slot on the back of the head unit as well as the amp. 2.) The REM wire is hooked up to the amp. It is also connected to the 2 red accessory wires coming from head unit and the car. 3.) The subs are wired to the speaker wire inputs on the amp. 4.) The ground wire is connected to the negative terminal on the battery (I did this because I couldn't find a ground spots in the trunk. Plus the thick 6" brown wire coming from the negative terminal is directly connected to a bolt in the chassis. 5.) Amp 12v wire hooked up (w/ fuse) to positive terminal on battery (battery is in the trunk). Also hooked up to the 12v input on the amp. After hooking it up, it worked for only a few minutes, then stopped. No fuses looked blown, but I replaced them all. I checked all the connections and re-connected all the wires. Tried 3 different RCA cables. When I turn the car on now, only the red logo light comes on on top of the amp. When it was working fine, the white power light came on as well. The head unit works fine, the battery, cables, and amp is new. Could part of the amp be fried? The REM and 12v are working fine, but the amp seems to be getting no audio signal from the headunit.

back left brake light now working after a radio/speaker installation???

ok so i was at best buy. I had a big audio job done... took out the factory radio (head unit) and trunk unit(amp) - bypassed the amp put in aftermarket radio and new speakers. everything was tip top working great until i drive home and then i noticed that my back left brake doesnt work... the odd thing is when i actually BRAKE both brake lights light up bright like normal, but when the lights are simply only the right brake light is on. My brake lights are I think two bulbs each, one for main part that you see from the rear, the other a smaller one on the side of the brake light. The "side" part of the left brake light works normally, but the main part is not lit at all (however will light up bright when the brakes are pressed). I know this must be a wiring issue and they will have to fix it but anyone have an idea exactly what caused it? car is a mercedes 350sdl 1991. thanks) in my question i meant "not working" not "now working" - thanks

Problems with Subwoofer installation; no sound but power on.?

I have a 2002 Pontiac Gran Prix GTP with a stock Bose system. I wired a line out converter (PAC) to the rear speakers post-amp. I took that, and went up the glove box with RCA's to a bass control knob, then back to the Pyle mono block amp. then it is wired from the amp to a side port, then to the 4 ohm Pyle sub. I wired it for a two ohm load. the way i did this was to take the wire and strip two sections of the wire and go from + to + with the same wire. then from the opposite side - to -. when i ground the line out converter the sub makes a faint thud. Please give me ideas to troubleshoot my set up.

I want to know what would be best for my front speakers and back speakers, that could cover amazing bass, mid tones, and high tones, all for a good price. I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier 2 dour coupe, so you know what can fit in my car. I'm looking at buying a Pioneer deck for 150, and it's a deal that if you buy a deck and speakers you get free installation, so if there are any really amazing pioneer speakers that's awesome, but if you know another brand that's amazing and is relatively cheap that has a deck 150-175 that can hook up an Apple i-pod touch with a USB cord, please also suggest that! I know i'm asking for a lot but i appreciate your time!

Pardon me for my stupidity but I have zero experience with speaker systems or installation. So I found this sub woofer and it's about a 10". It has no wires but there's nothing wrong with the woofer. I was wondering if it's possible to install it into my car. And if so how would I install it?

Car's sound system advice please?

Alright... So I got more money... I can spend around a grand on this, maybe a little bit more. I've picked out the stuff I want, did some research on the items, read a lot of reviews(Who knows the items better than the customer who buys it, right?) And anyway, here are the things I am thinking about buying, what do you guys think? 1. Sony 50w x4 in-dash CD Deck - $160 2. Alpine 500w class D mono MOSFET amp with adjustable crossover - $200 3. Alpine 12inch Dual-Voice-Coil4-ohm sub - $200 (I'm only buying one sub for now, and when I have more money saved up, I'll buy another one) 4. Fierce Audio 12inch Dual Sealed sub enclosure - $100 5. Alpine - Type-S 6"x9" 3-way coaxial car speakers with poly-mica cones - $120 And what money I have left over is going for the installation fee. Is this a decent set-up? If not, what needs to be replaced with what and etcetc... Thanks a lot for the advice! Oh, and by the way, my car is a 92 Pontiac Sunbird 2d coupe if it matters. Alright, I found a better deck... Pioneer - 50W x 4 MOSFET Apple® iPod®/Satellite Radio/HD Radio-Ready CD Deck And I'm just buying a single box for my sub. Atrend - 12" Single Sealed Hatchback Subwoofer Enclosure Gah, ok. That pioneer deck is gunna cost around $140. The enclosure is only $40, and if all fails with that then I'll have on customized. I want to buy electronics to be installed in my car, an in-dash deck and four speakers. It is sold at Best Buy and on a web site called www.sonicelectronix.com. It is cheaper on the web site but Best Buy has the installation. So can I buy off this website and once I get it Have Best Buy install it, or do I need to buy from Best Buy? Cherokee amplifier speaker installation, anything I should know first?

Im about to hook up a single 12 inch subwoofer thru a 300 watt 2-channel amp to the standard head unit. Anyone know any good sites with tips and guides for this model vehicle? I've installed this speaker in another car before but have had to fix issues several times. I had two speakers on the amp b4 but one ripped when i moved so i was trying to still use the one speaker for right and left, also because i do not have room for both speakers in my new car. I hope it is possible i have another amp 300 watt 2channel amp with 2 subs hooked up to it and the subs are also connected to a small horn tweeter each, but i could never get either tweeter playing and the right sub never workerd and is not damaged
