I hear Buzzing Sound Through my car Subwoofers. Even when the stereo is off. I checked all cables! there ok!?

I Hear the buzzin hummin noise only When I have My Audio Control Epicenter Connected. And when i Remove the epicenter, The bad Sound Is Gone!! What could be the problem? In this situation. IS my epicenter not working!! I relocated the Ground Wire, And RCA's Brand New. The amp Is connected to Factory Radio, getting my signal with an RCA converter from one of the rear speakers. PLEASE Help!! Pro Installers advice only!! On The Audio Control Epicenter I Decreased the Voltage From 12 volts to 2.5 volts. The Noise Decreased a whole lot, But the noise is still noticeable. What Could I Do!! IS IT The Epicenter Thats Causing the Problem?

I have a 98 accord V6 coupe. List of items: Head Unit: DVA - 9681 Processor(s): - EpiCenter (by: Audio Control) - Apex (by: Kove Audio) Amp: MTX 405 (5 ch. amp) Cap: One Rockford Fosgate1 farad Cap Front: Boston Acoustics Components Pro 60 Rear: Boston Acoustics (6x9) SX65 Sub: Eclipse 12" Alum. Dual 4 ohm VC Battery: Kinetik HC1400 Power Cell Alternator: Load Boss 180amps Using Rockford Fosgate 4 ga power/ground wire Gain on amp is set to my optimal settings (about half way) Played with gain until desired settings. (Set by ear) 1/0 ga wire to D-block Using a dual fused D-block in the engine bay - ANL 150 amp fuse (used for H.O. Alternator) - ANL 100 amp fuse (used as power wire to amp) - I added the "BIG 3" using 4 ga cables - Added 3 Rockford Fosgate ground loop isolators (front, rear, and sub) - All grounds are solid. Checked with a DMM. - RCA and power wires are on either side of the car. Is there anything else that could help?

Car audio with surround sound?

I've got some CD's and DVD's with DTS 5.1 music on them, and they sound great on my DVD setup at home. I want to play them in my car (which really seems the perfect place to play surround music), so obviously a regular Car DVD player would work. They're a bit expensive though, and I'm not really interested in paying for a flatscreen for my car. I just want a cheap DD/DTS 5.1-capable car audio unit. Is there such a thing? I mean, it doesn't seem far-fetched to build one myself from a small PC since they all come with surround sound nowadays. But I'd rather pay for something that just works.

Can I install a car audio subwoofer into my surround sound system subwoofer?

I have a surround sound system that has a six inch sub. I want to take that one out and install an Alpine Type R 10" sub into it. Im not big on audio stuff, so I was just wondering if I am able to put a car audio sub into a surround sound sub? Also do you think it will mess up my surround sound system if i changed the six inch sub to a ten inch?? Thanks.

I look at Sound and Vision and all that and these expensive 10's and 12's claim and are reviewed to go down to the lowest octaves smoothly. How do they do so good? I know they are proper bass reflex which helps a lot; but as far as displacement; how can they do this when my 2 18's seem to drop off in my Ranger at 35 Hertz!!!!!!!!!! in a 4 cubic feet per chamber sealed enclosure. They are cheap 18's but they are 18's!!! for Christ's sake!!!!! They have like a "power band" at 40 to 55 Hertz but outside that they SUCK

Its Crisp, Clear, Clean sound that provides Surround from just 2-speakers. Imagine 4-12 speakers. Bose is used in Audi, Cadillac and such. They are known for being the best but is not. They could be second best. Bang and Olufsen - Is the best audio system out there. Their systems, speakers are 10x better than Bose can ever make. They out last, sound, and perform better than anyother audio specially for cars. No wonder why people paid $ 15,000 - 20K for their Bang & Olufsen System in the Audi A8L and Q7. How to connect laptop to surround sound?

I want to know what cable I need in order to connect my laptop to my Sony Home Theater. I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI to watch movies but I want surround sound not my TV sound. My home theater has an audio in plug in on the front of the receiver but that is all. Can I use that hole, there are only two left and right which I use for the HD receiver and sound. Can I use a cable like an ipod uses to connect it to car radio or whatever

Question on surround sound systems?

Looking for something between $300-500. I deal a lot with car audio and like loud and still clear music. Im looking for a system to put in my room, and I'd like as clear as possible sound, like hearing bullets fly past my head, and when something blows up, I want to feel it from the subwoofer. Any suggestions? The main thing is, when something blows up, I really want to feel it, I want the whole room to shake and the neighbors come over and complain.

I understand it allows for better sound control, but do they offer higher pre amp volts? Most head units only supply less than desirerable pre amp voltage, would an EQ provide any better sound quality?

I've been experimenting with equalizer software, specifically a couple of WinAmp plugins, one is OzoneMP by iZotope, another is Electri-Q by AiXcoustic. Can someone please find info to give me a crash course in using EQ software in general, these in particular, to reencode audio for a car audio system + subwoofer? For example, the Ozone plugin has various equalizer presets for frequencies, but it also has an array of settings to set the "room" size. How do I tailor this to the interior of my '96 Chevy Monte Carlo?! Evil Rondy do you have any suggestions on how best to do this? I have a laptop and I the plugins for WinAmp I describe have spectrum analysis along with equalizer capability. Do I need to play back a CD, and record that session, then play it through WinAmp on the laptop to see how the sound is affected in different areas of the car? Total newbie to this type of in-depth analysis so any additional details would be appreciated. :-)

I just bought a 4 band eq (simple, but really all i want is more subwoofer adjustment) and i am lookin for a place to put it in my '97 grand cherokee. It does have one spot that intrigues me... There is a window about the size of head unit on the dash just in front of the shifter for package indicators (ie. towing packages, 4wheel, A/C). My jeep only has 4wheel, which is also indicated on the shifter, so to have this picture of a truck with its wheels lighting up when you shift into 4wheel is pretty much useless... I was thinkin about takin that out and making an fiberglass cover to cover the space between the EQ edges and dash. Bad idea? good idea? what about wireing? Will it be ok if i just cap those wires making the 4wheel indicator light up, or does the 4wheel system use that in the curciut to make it run? I have also considered some other not so attractive places to put it... ie, alongside the centerconsole between it and the driver seat, in the glove compartment, under the dash hang-mounted... Anyone have any cool ideas of where i could put it? anyone have any experience with this? Thanks -Grant

LAYNE STALEY: "AWAKE" AND REACHING BEYOND THE GRAVE A Chilling True Story Is Layne Stayley, singer for seminal grunge band Alice In Chains [who OD’d and died in 2002], pulling a “Tupac” by continuing to make records from beyond the grave? It would appear so, as evidenced by this recent story coming out of Los Angeles, CA. It seems that during the recording of their debut album, Angry Mirror, alternative metal band EVEN X first made their other-worldly connection with the deceased rock star while working on the band’s current single, “Awake,” at Track Entertainment Studios. At some point during the late-night session, some of the studio’s equipment began generating unusual frequency readings and the overhead lights began flickering sporadically. Engineer Alex Track found singer Ricky Kay unconscious in what was described as a “trance-like” state. Attempts to revive Kay were unsuccessful, so Track tried to leave the control room to get help, only to find that some “invisible force” was pushing against the door, preventing him from leaving. The room also became noticeably cooler and a “low growl” came from the speakers as a Then, without warning, Kay began frantically scribbling song lyrics on a note pad, seemingly engaged in a conversation with himself. As soon as he put the pen down, the studio returned to its normal state, as did Kay himself, having no memory of what had just happened or any recollection of the how the lyrics on the pad came to be. The lyrics generated from that session are exactly what Kay sang for the song “Awake” to the letter. Upon playback of the vocals, Kay and Track were astounded to hear an eerie, “deranged-sounding” voice whispering underneath the track. Most of it was indecipherable, but there was one phrase that stuck out, “Sing my words.” As strange as it was, the band liked how it sounded; so they decided to put the phrase on a loop and include it in the final mix of the song. But this “X-File” doesn’t stop there. Paranormal Investigator Susan Alvarez, an experienced Medium, was brought in on the case and immediately sensed a strong and, according to her description, “sad” presence. She asked the band if the name “Lane” meant anything to the band. There were several streets in the surrounding area ending with “Lane,” but she was insistent that it was the proper name of person who had died, not a street. The band still didn’t make the connection with Stayley, but when bassist Mark Meltzer later excused himself to use the restroom, he saw the letters “L-S-A-I-C” written on the bathroom mirror, as if someone had let the hot water run and scribbled the letters through the steam. The band, which bears a striking sonic similarity to Alice In Chains and are admittedly major fans of the Seattle rockers, began to make the connection and Alvarez attempted to communicate with the spirit to confirm their suspicions. According to Alvarez, it was indeed the ghost of Layne Stayley, but attempts to ascertain the reason for this presence and his connection with EVEN X were unsuccessful. She was just left with an overwhelming feeling of “tragedy, as if his whole being was stained.” Now that the single is being played on metal radio and the album is available for sale, reports have been coming in from fans experienced strange phenomena surrounding the song. Wayne LaPolt, 20, of Portland, Maine was so disoriented while listening to the song on his car stereo and crashed into a mailbox. Paul Nubar, 32, downloaded the track from iTunes and was listening to it while cleaning an algae-infested pool in Columbus, Ohio when he passed out, fell in, and nearly drowned. Michelle Antares, 18, reports concern for her older brother, Tony, 23, who has become increasingly withdrawn since buying Angry Mirror and keeping “Awake” on a continuous loop on his stereo. Does the EVEN X song “Awake” contain the last known recording of Layne Stayley? Does playing it open some sort of a gateway between this world and the one beyond? how could inetwork a bunch of car stereo systems?

OK, I'm going to have a big party at the end of the school year (planning for it early) and I got a bunch of friends with really loud stereo systems in their cars so what I want to do is network them all so they all play what the other ones are playing. I want to be able to connect an mp3 or ipod into one of them, and have all of them play the songs off it. I'm planning on having the party in my field and having a bunch of cars all circled around it playin whatever song my stereo system is playing so I can get a huge surround sound effect, and if i could I also want to have the central ones that the other ones are playing off of not be in a car, have it like in the middle and the cars surrounding it. if anyone knows how to do this please post, don't bs about it cause i dont wanna spend big moneyon gettin this to work then have it not work.

stereo sound not stereo any more, only plays left half?

i have a surround sound system hooked up to my comp, it's been workin fin and all of a sudden today i played some songs and noticed that the computer was only playin like the left half of the audio, all the speakers are playin the music, but if the song starts to play right side audio, i can BARELY hear it, i was thinkin it might be an audio driver thing, but i need to work on my car soon and i didnt want to spend time figuring this thing out as well, any help would be much appreciated. (best example, when listenin to shaft theme, the beginning the audio fades between left and right side speakers, but when it fades to the right side, the audio is wicked quiet, nto a problem with the speakers because when the song is playing on all speakers, all speakers are working fine) its not the connection or the balance, in the audio settings, those were obviously the first things i checked, i was actually thinkin that rebootin would probly be the best thing since i was gonna be doin it wihtin a month anyway oh yea, if i put a movie in the dvd player, no audio either

When building a sound system, in the end what it comes down to is a couple of things. Are you looking for extreme bass aka S.P.L.(sound pressure level) or S.Q.(sound quality). Second is how much money are you willing to invest in the sound system. My personal taste has changed during the years. I used to want nothing but bass back in my high school years. Now I want Dolby 6.1 digital, THX and Blue Ray DVD sound quality. And there are amps and processors out there for car audio that offer those options, the Dolby Processors, surround sound etc. What I'm about to state next is for everyone who reads this. A few tips from personal experience, for everyone. If you're going to have a shop install your sound system don't give them your address, if you have to, just give them a PO Box address. Sure they can look up your info just by your license plate, but don't just give them your address. I think there is a department you can call so that your info cannot be accessed by anyone. Also, it is possible to program more than one remote for you car's alarm when it is installed without you knowing about it, so be very very careful. Some car alarms have the feature where you can have the car honk it's horn letting you know how many remotes are currently programmed to operate your alarm. Number one mistake is taking or showing so called "friends" where you live. They memorize how to get to your house and jack your car later on. Insurance companies statistics show that 70% of the time it's someone you know who jacked your stereo. This may seem obsessive to some but you could install a small hidden camera aimed at your car. At least you'll see who did it and what they were driving. Trust me, the cops/detectives(dics) will NOT lift a finger for you if you did not see who took your car. Yeah, like the thieves are going to jack your car in front of you, facing the possibility of 10 years for grand theft auto. So your best bet is a high definiton hidden camera, bright motion activated flood lights. Another big mistake people make is, when you do find your car a couple of days later, DO NOT TOUCH THE CAR. Reason why, because the lazy cops will refuse to check for fingerprints if you touched it !! (Even though your fingerprints are already over the entire car!!) Also good auto insurance, Allstate is good w/covering car stereos. Make sure you notify the insurance company of everything you have installed on the vehicle aftermarket. Take pictures of everything and save the receipts for all of the products, make photocopies of the receipts also and keep them in a file cabinet. You can also have the subs frame and amplifiers engraved with your name and serial number. Never engrave your social security number of driver's license number on anything, they could steal your identity. This may sound like preaching but if you ever get your car jacked you're going to wish you had known all of this.

Hey I'm starting to restore the above mentioned car - Black with grey cloth int. I am going to put a new stereo in and I want a huge improvement so what do you think about putting some speakers in the pillar that goes over the front seats maybe turned down some but still offering a "surround" sound experience. What do you think of this idea and has anyone tried it before?? What type of speakers would you use? Just tweeters? More? Thanx.

Hi , I'm buying a used car soon and it's stereo system is all stock. I can't live without music and I love quality sounding music but I don't have much experience with car stereo system setups so I need some advice. I'll be putting it in a 97 integra coupe . What I'm looking for isn't something ridiculously loud and has a lot of bass , I'm looking for more of ... mmm like concert sound. Decent bass and has nice sound surround. That kind of quality. (I hope that describes it --;;) I have no idea where to start when looking for a deck and speakers . For what I'm looking for I don't think I even need a sub? So if anyone could recommend me some setups for what I'm looking for I'd be very greatful! Thank you! Oh and for my budget , my tops would be 1k usd .

How to control my surround sound?

Hey, i just got a surround sound system, only problem is that it was just the speakers and subwoofer, nothing to control any of it. I was wondering..if i step down 120VAC to 12VAC and use diodes to turn the AC into DC, would i be able to succesfuly use a car stereo to control it? with that i'll get the Front/Back fade, Left/Right Balance, and the Bass/Treble control, i'll also get the radio, and depending what sero i use i can input from my tv/dvd/ cd/ etc....think it'll work? ooh, so just hooking up the speakers won't work"? they all need amplifiers?

2002 Mustang GT w/ Mach Sound System and New Car Stereo?

I have a 2002 Mustang GT with the Mach surround sound system in it. I have a Sony 1-disc car stereo that I want to install in it that I bought last summer. I went to Best Buy and they can't install it because they don't have the proper wiring harness for it. Does anyone know what I can do to make it work in my car? They just asked "Do you have the Mach system? Oh, well we don't have the harness for it then." I just want to install my Sony into my Mustang, so my question is how can I do that with my Mach system. Is it difficult or something?

Now that I've got your attention I need some help with a stereo system for my golf cart. My plan is to have a nice stereo with a sub and also a drop-down dvd. Components I have right now are some Pioneer 6.5's (225 max) and 6x9's (330 max) new, just been sitting around, and a Delphi 10" dvd player. The dvd has preamp outs so I figure I'll need an amp to raise that signal. What I want to do is build a sub box but I'm not sure what size I should run for the sub (8", 10", 12"). I'm assuming the same (2, 3, 4 channel??) amp can power the sub, dvd player and possibly the stereo (do I need it for the stereo or will the stereo's own amp be enuff). Also I have heard about capacitors and crossovers in the system, is this something I need? All this is to be done on a tight budget ($400 for amp, sub and wiring) and install done by myself. Installed enuff car stereos when I was younger (we didn't have all these amps and subs back then) and have enuff knowledge of cars and 12v systems not to pay for the labor. The fab up off a sub box should be easy enuff as carpentry is a past time. The biggest thing I need is what system will marry up together and sound good, look good, and perform well. The advice will be greatly appreciated. I figured the "talk to me like I'm stupid" would get a few jacka**es to respond. Congrats to stumuffin (is it stub?) for being the first.

Can i use a subwoofer crossovers in my car?

Im not ready for an amp so i was wondering if i hook up a low frequency crossover to a subwoofer in the back of my car to the car stereo , will it only play low frequencies? or would it try to sound like regular speakers? Also can this damage my car stereo? thanks

I realize home speakers have an impeadance of 8 ohms and car speakers are usually 4 ohms. I was just curious if it would work; because I have some Yamaha home speakers that have busted cabinets. I have a nice home theater system and have no home use for these speakers but I could really use some high end in my car. These speakers of course have built in crossovers in each cabinet. Any advice would be helpful, except "go buy some 4 ohm tweeters", I am in nursing school so money is too tight for that. Thanks.

What is up with my car stereo?

I just had a Alpine (SPR-17S) component car speakers installed into my car, so I have two new midrange speakers and two tweeters hooked up in the front of my car along with two crossovers. The sound is pretty good, however the two midranges are each playing a different frequency and so are the two tweeters (driver side midrange seems to be playing higher pitch stuff while the passenger side midrange is playing a lot fuller of a sound). This doesn't seem right. Does anyone have ideas as to what might be wrong? Could wires be mixed up and one up my midrange speakers be plugged in as a tweeter? The car is a 2003 Nissan Sentra but thats probably irrelevant.

Will I burn up a 3ohm subwoofer in my 4 ohm car stereo?

I've got an 8" sub enclosure from a Phillips home surround sound system I'm not using. It is labeled 3ohms and is not powered... just a speaker in a box. Will I burn up the voice coil or otherwise harm the subwoofer if I hook it up to my Sony xplod car stereo? I am assuming it's output is 4ohms but I know it's 200wx4. The stereo has a built in crossover and I am not going to be running an amp. It is only an 8" after all.

i want to upgrade my sound system. i have picked out the speakers i just don't know what amps and how to do them. i am going one of 2 ways. 2~ 5.25 front door speakers (Kenwood 28 watt rms/140 peak watt) with a pair of Kicker 6x9's in rear deck lid (70 watt rms/140 peak) and a single subwoofer (10" or 12" or Bazooka nos bottle6" - 8") or the same setup with additional 6.5" mids in the rear doors and a pair of subs vs a single sub. i know i need as much power to the subs as the rest of my system. i know i can go mono on a single sub. or stereo for a pair. i really like the Bazooka NOS-6 or NOS-8 the lookalike nos bottle with a single sub would be fine for the music i listen too (hard rock and metal) plus i am making a show car & Sunday drag stripper(Aurora V8) not really a boom box. i need advice on amps. i am going with 4 ohm door speakers & 6x9's for sure. i presume the subs will have to match. i'm confused with all the options, bridged, multiple channels, tri-way crossovers etc.

4 ohm speakers, roughly only 21 watts rms, only speaker leads no amp, I think the numbers say 497 microfarads for the capacitor, and 8 Millihenries for the resistor. but not sure how that equates to the numbers they give on products at radio shack.

I have a Lanzar vibe 241 200rms per channel amp for bass with two 12" mtx speakers rated at 200rms per speaker in a sealed home made box but yet still i do not get the deep heavy bass i want. My system is made up of a pioneer am/fm tuner cd player, a pioneer equalizer with crossover and sub output and a lanzar crossover. My mids and tweeters are on a separate amp rated at 750 watts total..75rms per channel. The bass amp has a 1 furad capacitor on the power wire which is 8 guage. The power wire from the battery is 4 guage with a 120 amp fuse at the battery.

i was changing my crossover and the remote and ground cords had touched, all of a sudden smoke starts and basically my wires for my crossover, fried... i also noticed that the cars battery was on. so i ran and cut it instantly.. but now when i start my car, my stereo doesn't turn on..i changed my fuse as well because i noticed that was burnt during that whole wire frying incident so im not sure whats wrong with it.... right now, is there something i can do??

just had installed new car stereo deck in my 09 shelby gt500, its a dvd/cd double din deck, with bluetooth and NAVigation, i also had put in a two channel bass amp (memphis on all amps and speakers) a 4 channel amp for front speakers. all new everything, they made it real nice ansd it sounds great, but one thing, as i drive or am idling the car, its like in the 80s and 90's when everyone was hooking up thier new stereos with the equalizers, I GET NIOSE!!! like the high pitched humming noise, you know, when you give it gas or are shifting and evenb idling i hear that cheap noise, wheat should i tell them? i kind of want to know what it is that makes that noise so i can tell them, i spent 2800.00 on all this. my factory stereo didnt make noise, and my 07 GT mustang with custom amps etc. doesnt make that noise, thank you car pros for answering

My 2003 Nissan 350Z Bose Stereo has no midrange control. Can an aftermarket graphic equalizer be added?

I have a 2003 Nissan 350z with a factory Bose stereo. It sounds OK but has no midrange control. Just treble and bass. From what I've read some of the later Bose factory stereos have some settings like "arena" or "club" where it provides some equalization but this 2003 unit does not. It has a decent sub but by the time you turn it up loud enough to feel the sub the midrange is so loud it sounds like crap. Can an aftermarket equalizer be added? Could an aftermarket 9 band graphic equalizer be added in-line and installed behind the flip up door in the dash? Every car stereo dealer I talk to wants to sell me a $2,000 touchscreen aftermarket stereo. This stereo would sound great if I had the ability to take out some of the midrange and accentuate the highs and bass. I see equalizers that should do the trick at Crutchfield for less than $200 but don't know if they would work with this factory powered system. Any suggestions?

Why doesn't my sony xplod car stereo have bass?

I have a saturn and the system that came with the car,(just a typical saturn stereo) could make my car windows shake when I turned up a rap song or something. I bought a sony xplod system and now every song sounds so high-pitched and there's hardly any base sound no matter which equalizer i turn it on, or even if i put the low on + 10, and the high on -10. Why doesn't it have bass? I've gone in twice to make sure it is wired correctly and i'm pretty sure it is. Also, I put new speakers in it and they are good speakers because they worked great with my original stereo system. I do not have a sub.

i have a car battery charger , but as we all know that doesn't last long with an amp at high volumes , the equalizer shouldn't need to much power as am only going to use 2 tweeters and 2 little speakers for high frequencies and midrange and the amp will be running a subwoofer. I have a Pioneer Head unit DEH-P7600. I know quiet a lot about car audio and i can easily hook up a car setup in a car but i just wanted to know how i can hook it up in the house and not damage the equipment. Setting an Intelligent Equalizer on Car Stereo, Hurts Ears...?

Hello, I have a JVC in dash car stereo. When I first installed it 3 years ago it really hurt my ears at first. It has an intelligent equalizer which gives you a ton of setting combinations as to how your player could sound. I remember it took me about 3 weeks of tweeking in order to get a setting I could stand to listen to. Well, last week my car battery went dead and I lost my sound settings. Now it's back to where I was 3 years ago. My ears hurt and they feel full of pressure when my cd player is on. I can't seem to remember how the equalizer was set. The options are: Low Level, Low Width, Low Frequency; Mid Level Mid Width and High Level, High Frequency. It also has an option for Loud On or Off. It's driving me crazy cause I loved the sound of my player once I got things tweeked and I can't seem to get it back. Does anyone no anything about sound or car stereos or equalizers that could give me some advice or info on how to have a nice sound? Thanks!

I have recently bought a V3 stereo system and some sony xplod speakers, but when i turn up the volume about past 35, everything gets all distorted ad sounds nasty. I had my uncle who came over and was going to give me some subwoofers, because he thought my base was kicking too hard, but when he heard them all he said was that i needed an equalizer so the speakers all get the same power or something like that. I just got a new car stereo, JVC -KD-R600, and in the equalizer settings there's a Q-slope setting. I haven't been able to find any answer to what it really does, and the manual just says that you can change it (between 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 for bass and mid). What effect does this cause on the sound? I currently have 180W max speakers and an Apline Type R 12 inch sub with an 800W Pioneer amp hooked up with it, what should I have Q slope set to for best sound (and if any opinions on EQ settings are around I'd take those too)? For reference I listen to industrial style music (NIN, KMFDM, Fear Factory etc), Mindless Self Indulgence, and electronicish music by Benny Benassi, Daft Punk, Crystal Method, etc.

Six speakers with a four speaker stereo?

I recently bought a Clarion FB275BT head unit to replace the factory unit in my '05 Cobalt. I have a basic 4-speaker setup in my car. I want to buy 2 tweeters for the front (the factory cutouts are already there). What would be the best way to connect the 2 tweeters to get the best sound? An amp, an equalizer? I installed my radio myself and it looks great, but I don't know much about amps and all that stuff. I'm not worried about making it super bass loud, but just want to make sure the sound comes out of speaker are the right ones, and not just all the same. Any help would be appreciated.

What's that old Japanese cartoon with transforming robots that swapped heads to power up? It's from late 80s?

I'm trying to figure out the name of this old Japanese cartoon that i used to watch. It featured transforming robots similar to the transformers series, except one of the major things was that there would be these small robots that would transform into these giant heads that would then attach to a separate giant body. One other thing was that they had these vertical power meters that looked like equalizers on a stereo on their chests. They came in many forms. Most were cars, but i remember there being one main character robot that was like a giant space ship. The only other thing i can remember is that i used to watch it as a kid in the late 80s early 90s.

Will I have to change everything out of my 1984 Camry?

Hey everyone, I have a 1984 Camry LE with stereo system ALL STOCK. That means, the tape deck with the equalizer is still attached and working! Even stock speakers as well. Anyways, I was thinking of putting some subs in this car but I don't know if I'll have to change everything inside it (speakers, deck, back speakers) if I add on the subs. The subs I want to put in are the Jensen Dual 12" Subwoofer. They seem to be priced right for just starting out. Or am I able to just buy this sub + amp and let them connect it without blowing out the stock speakers?

Difference between car audio and home audio?

Why does nearly every stock car audio system ALWAYS have MUCH MUCH MUCH more bass than just about any home stereo on the marke? And the custom car audio systems ("bump in the trunk") have so much bass that you can hear it from half a mile away, and it's not the crappy artificial "bass booster" equalizer, it's real smooth bass. And just about any home stereo systems only focus on treble, the bass in 99.9% of home stereo systems is so weak, you have to put your ear in the airhole to hear it! And why are most car speakers oval shaped?

My father, for a VERY out of the blue Christmas gift, gave me a gift certificate for $750 to an auto-detailing place in my area. He went way out of his way to locate a place near me and do all this, I'm really grateful and I want advice on what's best to use it on. I have a 2000 Jeep Cheroke. It has a crap stereo, 3 okay speakers and one completely blown speaker. So I was thinking I should get a new sound system. I heard Pioneer was all-around good. I really want clarity in the bass...but i don't necessarily need a sub right? So far I'd get 4 high quality speakers, an equalizer, the stereo, and what else? What does an amp do? I need detailed advice please I know NOTHING about this stuff and i don't have any catalogue to look through!

Need help buying car stereo?

I just bought a 2001 Nissan Frontier and I love it so far. The only thing I don't like is the stereo/cd player is not playing any of my cd's. It doesn't matter if they're regular cd's or mp3 cd's I've made, it just wont play them with any consistancy. So I'm in the market to buy a new cd player to put in it. Now, I've had some experience in aftermarket stereos before with both my neon and my civic. I found that both of these had more bells and whistles than I needed( both were alpine stereos I think). What I'm looking for is a basic cd player. All it needs to do is be able to play both my regular cds and my mp3 cd's and maybe a radio. I don't need all the fancy equalizer options or tv screen or anything like that. I also want to get something that will last me, so a cheap knock off ain't gonna do the trick either. If you have any suggestions as to how I could fix my current stereo or what to buy would be greatly appreciated.

Cost is out of the question...so...if I wanted a car sound system that you can hear from a looooooooooooooooooooonng distance away but also when you have guests in the car it can also be peaceful with subwoofer equalizer amp speakers....what should i get?? car speakers wont work.. only subs!?

recently my car stereo would not work at all, i disconnected all the wires to see the problem then found out it was the fuse in the head unit! i replaced that then after i connected all the wires back (i used the manual to check the right connections) and the head unit worked but only the subs would have sound come out of it. the thing thats getting to me is that all 4 speakers, front and rear don't work! iv checked all the wires and there connected good! but don't know if the positive and negative are correct because i couldn't tell, then i checked the deck if the equalizer was messed up but it was fine. im lost any answers?!!

How can I get better sound through car speakers with ipod?

I recently purchased a Pioneer car radio that has an auxiliary input for ipod. When the ipod is playing, I have to turn the volume very high to hear it (usually up to a volume level of 30 to 40 and to hear the radio well the volume level only has to be at like a 5 or 6). Usually the ipod will only play in the speakers on the left side of my car but when I switch the radio back to the tuner it plays in all speakers. What should I do to correct the difference in volume levels and speakers? I've looked at my car stereo manual and played around with all of the equalizers but nothing works...I'm thinking there is something I've changed on the sound output of the ipod. My car speakers keep going in and out?

I have an amp wired to my interior speakers, the amp is connected to an equalizer and I still have the stock head unit. for some reason 2 of the speakers keep going in and out, i moved around the rca cables that go to the EQ to see if its the wires that are messed up and the cables are the reason to me that the speakers keep going in and out because the cables are bent. I went to one of them car stereo stores ( the ones that wired up everything for me) and they told me that my amplifier is shot. I ask myself this question how is the amp shot when all the speakers still sound, they just go in and out when the EQ shakes due to bumps n pot holes. everything is no more than 4 month old is this true or are they just trying to get more money out of me???

my homeboy wants me to install an equalizer to his FACTORY STEREO. now the equalizer has only 3 wires. the ground,illumination, and the 12v wire. now i can wire them to the factory stereo wires and then plug in the amp wires to the equilizer. will this work. the equalizer has 4 sets of rca jacks on it..

hi i just bought a chevy Chevrolet 98 convertible for 500 dollars. I got a sweet deal. it came with the 2 TV screens, surround sound, and SUBWOOFER(800 wat). I personally do, but was wondering what the experience has been with others. I feel like with the sound coming only from the front it isn't as submersive. There isn't that feeling like tou are just surrounded by music, it sounds weak and incomplete to me. Apparently there are a lot of people out there that just don't like rear fill and I just have to ask, why? Another thing I have noticed that you can get from 6x9 coaxials that you cant from 6.5" components is more midbass. I know there are some crazy 6.5" midbass pumpin machines out there, but if your bass is coming from the trunk don't you think it's nice just to have a little thump of midbass between between you and your subs? I think it makes an excellent rolloff from your subs. If you don't care about SQ and you just love the sound of your subs drowning everything else out then you might be satisfied without rear speakers, but for me they really seem to add a very nice sound to my system. And... your thoughts on this?

I'm pretty good w/ electronics...i can install computers, hardware, software, cable tv's, tivo's, surround sound, car audio, etc.etc. I want to start a little business going around to peoples homes and helping them install their things such as items listed above, for a cheaper price than say, a circuity city representative would charge. My question is though...how would I go about doing this? Can I advertise and send out business cards and just start doing it as I recieve clients... OR do I have to be licensed or insured? Are they're any laws about this? Do I have to file taxes or can I keep this as pocket money? I live in the state of Maryland. Basically, Im just looking for something to make me some extra cash so I can afford to live.

ok, I am looking for a good overall system, I dont care about cost, becasue I am not doing it all at once, I am doing my component speakers right now, so what would be a good after market setup for about 1200 dollars? I have 6 x 9's and 3 and a halfs, stock setup...also are crossovers good? 3 way or coaxle?

i just bought a pioneer stereo and i have sony xplod 6" speakers in each door, 2 tweeter in the backseat, and 2 subs (not sure about the brand, but i think they are new). can i hook up the system just as it is? what exactly is an amp and a crossover, and what do they do? are they necessary components in the sound system or can i go without them? someone please explain this for me!

I have installed this system in mention into a mini van, sounds good and all works, but i know there is much room for improvement. Looking to remove distorton from highs and mids and clean up sound from subs. I want the windows to vibrate but with very clear sound from my mids and highs. Im just not sure how to adjust the frequency and output levels to find my happy medium. Plus not too sure what the Q factor is all about. But what i do know is that my Pioneer cd player does have these features(to include 3RCA pre-outs, subwoofer control,mosfet 50Wx4, & 3band parametric equalizer).Also my amp(Virtual Reality Sound Lab) 2 channel, does have a built in crossover. My 2 12" subs are JVC in a 4'x2' box. Looking for some help.

I was thinking about doing 2 kickers L7 dual 2ohm because i already have them but i was thinking about doing 3 of them in my trunk if i just do 2 of them is that cool i never hooked these subs up before so i don't know how they sound and i have a T1500BD amp the new one what else would i need i have a clarion crossover a clarion eq a kitnetik battery the small one and i have a infinty 4ch amp and pioneer 6x9 and pioneer 5 1/2 i just need to know can 2 of these L7 subs do the job on the amp that i have please let me know thanks.

What is the average life of car audio equipment ?

The reason I'm asking is that I have mid quality equipment(Pioneer)that I've been using for about 9 years now. I don't go easy on it either,it is played daily LOUD. My amp beats the hell out of my subs, but it sounds as good as it did when it was new. I can maybe see the crossover still working, but even the head unit was good until I replaced it with a new one that had Bluetooth and mp3 functions. Anyone else had good luck with car audio ? Thanks. Well...it's changed vehicles a couple of times, but has been setup the same each time.

i have a 12 inch alpine type r running off a mrp500 and i am about to get 6x9 infinity references for the back and a 6x8 component for the front. Should i get an alpine cda105 abd a $100 equalizer or just an alpine ida x305. Or just a jvc s100. What would work best wih that setup. Btw i have no amp for the speakers

I was given a "dead" 1996 Sebring with a good audio system; CD AM/FM,Cassette, 4 speakers center circular adjustable and 3 knob equalizer. I cut the system out leaving plenty wire length. Speakers undamaged with female receptacle but I have to replace the male end. Is there a wiring diagram to get the right wires to the speakers from the harness and ground it correctly? Or could I maybe change it to function from an electrical outlet in my house?
