I'm at a loss...I hooked up an amp just how its supposed to be but when I unhooked the 12 volt power wire, the amp still stayed on. The remote on/off switch wire was acting as the power. How is that possible?

Im running an alpine type R 12 sub (wired for 2ohms) with a 600 watt alpine mono block amp. How many watts should my door speakers be to get good and loud so they can be heard over the loud bass?? I love the bass but its all i can hear right now! The car is a 1959 el camino so no stock system to work with (single cab-no back seat). I love good SQ. I prefer to everything to be loud and super clean. I just replaced some old crappy 28 watt 6x9's with an Alpine 100rms component 6 1/2 component speaker system w/seperate tweeter pushing them with an alpine mrp-F250 amp bridged at 100x2 channels. I thought this would be plenty to get over the bass but its doesn't seem to be quite loud enough. I bought the amp used so I hope its putting out the proper power.

Hi! I want to get my dad and aux input for his landy. He doesn't want to change the stereo, nor can you buy the aux kit for his model.. my solution is to buy an amp, wire the speaker channels off the standard stereo plug into the left and right channels off the amp and then run a phono/aux cable to his mp3? However would this work? i'm know the basics of electronics, however would the standard stereo interfere with the amp running an input?

Will it be stable at 1 ohm? is the real question I am about to order two pioneer champion series ts-w309d4 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs and have been looking for a reasonably priced amp, inevitably lanzar popped up. I've done a few installs for friends and occasionally they purchase a lanzar only for me to look it up and find that its of course not as powerful as it seems to advertise. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on the basics of car audio and have run across a particular lanzar (htg2100d). So I plan on wiring the two pioneers at 1 ohm and am looking for a D class monoblock that will handle the 800w rms at 1 ohm. My main concern is if this amp is even close to its advertised power. It seems unlikely to me that a lanzar would handle 800w rms at 1 ohm, and 2400w peak at 1 ohm ...now I don't know how but I do know there is a way to get a good estimate of power from the fuse ratings..maybe somebody can help me out here. If not I would take any recommendations for another amp, keep in mind I'm

Subwoofer no long plays ?

This is my story. My wife drives a GMC Envoy and I bought her a modest stereo up grade. Just 1 12” woofer and 1 amp both located in the rear of the truck. For a long time it worked great but one day my wife filled up 2 5 gallon jugs of water, didn’t put the caps on tight enough and the whole back of the truck got flooded right where the amp and the box are located. The woofer box stopped working but she still go sound from the pre amp in the Alpine head unit. I waited a couple of months for everything to dry out and then found the 80amp fuse between the woofer and the battery had blown. It’s located very close to the battery. I thought this was going to be a simple fix but as it turns out after replacing the fuse the amp turns on, I’m getting 12v dc to the amp but no sound coming from the woofer except an occasional pop. I connected a couple of speakers I had laying around the house to the +/- terminals of the amp and both speakers started to smoke like hell. How do you test the RCA jacks or the

the amp stays on and when i push the gas again the speakers come back on. I checked my alternater belt and my alternater and they are fine, would this be caused by a fauly battery? The battery seems to work alright but I have noticed there was a some sort of moisture coming up from underneath one or both terminals and alot of corrosion

Need a car audio expert, subs/amp/wires.? I am getting two 10 inch alpine type r's. I need help to chose a amp i have posted below a couple that ive found but i am a rookie when it comes to this stuff so i have no idea if either or will work. Also if someone can send me a link to the correct wires that would be cool. Aux through car amp?

I want to play music from my phone in my car. FM transmitters are horrible, I also tried an FM modulator. Wasn't that good either. I am getting 2 amps put in my car this week and I was wondering if the car speakers are hooked up to one amp, then that amp is hooked up to the next amp (the one with the subs) Can I hook an RCA aux cable to one of those amps and have the music play through my car? Had a guy put my stereo in sub amp gets hot and cut off even if it hasn't been played before hand. 4 gauge power,8 for ground and only foot 1/2 -2feet long at most. 100amp inline fuse, however at the distribution block it contains two fuses 30amp one going to each amp,sub amp is 60amp alone would that be the problem also both amps and capacitor are tied to the same ground should they be?

Is it possible to connect a phone directly to a amp. I have just brought a pair of Infinity Kappa 693.9i Speakers and was thinking as I dont use the radio I can just get a audio jack to RCA plug that into the amp, that would save me from buying a deck. From what I have read so far this will not work but I dont understand why. Does the wattage from the phone not enough wattage to power the amp? I have a JVC amp at home with input rca's in the front this seems to work using my phone. Otherwise I may have to ditch an amp altogther and get a resonable deck but these are generally only 50w/pc is this enogh for the speakers which I think are rated 110. This is just for my surf car so I dont want to spend too much on it. Any advise Thanks in advance.

I put a new radio in my boat. Everything is fine until the volume is turned loud. then the sound cuts out for a few seconds and bursts out for 5 seconds then silence again. if the volume is lower ,it works fine.

Okay, Installed in my car right now are: -2 sets of infinity 6x8 speakers in the doors -2 12" infinity subs in the trunk -sony gt650 receiver -KAC 1000 watt amp for the subs -KAC 750 watt amp for the in door speakers. Whenever I turn up my music louder then 19-21 on the head unit, the speakers in my doors either cut out completely or get so quiet they are barely audible. The subs stay on though, no matter the volume. All my speakers are attached properly to the amp, and I have a 4 gauge power wire going to each amp (along with a 4 gauge ground wire that is definitely grounded correctly). I also know it is not a power/ ground problem because when I unplug my sub amp the speakers will still cut out (the amp remains on and fine). I checked all my fuses, and my amps are not overheating... so I dont understand how this could be happening to my speakers! HELP ME!

hey in my 96 mercury i have the original sound system which i want to upgrade with a cd player and add my sub/amp in the trunk. my problem is that this car has an original amp and the entenna is on the roof. from what i found out the entenna goes to the amp then to the radio and all the radio does is send back a signal to the amp to supplie the speakers. i want to keep my original amp and speakers or else i would of already re-wired the car. i tried all the ford radio plugs and non fit my original radio harness and non solve my antenna issue also but i can just bypass the antenna and send that straight to the new radio but how to get the signal from the radio to the amp. basically i need to find a harness that would work for my car or a wiring diagram so i can split the wires myself somehow. thanks

Problem with rear channel output power. ?

So...I have an Alpine MRP-F300 4 channel amp running front Infinity Reference 5 1/4's and rear Infinity Reference 6x8's. I originally had a set of cheap MTX 6x8's in the rear that had weak sound, weak body, and weak power, so I switched them out for the infinity's. Low and behold the new rear infinity's sound just as bad as the MTX's. So after playing with the X-Overs in both the HU and amp, playing with wiring, changing gains, and playing with the HU's EQ I have no improvement. It seems as though the amp is just barely getting power to the rear speakers...their is sound there but it sounds like a radio in a tin can. Can someone offer any clarity into a potential cause of this? It seems Alpine isn't interested in calling me back. And for the record all is connected by Stinger 1000w wiring kit materials. I'll also add that the vehicles power is sufficient and if it matters I also have another dedicated JBL amp connected to 2x 10inch JBL subs (also Stinger connected).

i am getting a Diamond Audio D612D2 which is a DVC, requires 600Wrms 1200W peak handling. I am going to wire it either in 1 ohm or 4 ohm. for the 1 ohm setup i would get a Diamond Audio HEX750.1 which is 750Wrms at 1 ohm and the Hifonics HFi2000D i would use for the 4ohm setup which puts out 650Wrms at 4ohms. Which would be better or should i go with a different amp.

I want a HiFonics 4 ohm 1,600 watt RMS DVC OLM1612 12" sub to be powered by a bridged Rockford Fosgate P5002 amp in bridged mode.. the amp is not stable in 1 ohm mode so a dvc 4ohm sub should be 2ohms to the bridged amp making it pound like @#^%$^&& .....right? Im eventually looking to get the same amp and bridge them both to each voice coil of the sub.. does this sound good? can you hear me now? also my civic has some rust.. do you think it can knock some of that rust off for me? thx

I have brand new kicker zx350.4 amp and 2 12" kicker comps in a ported box. I just installed it today and found out that the subs don't play at all. I feel to the most part that the wiring is all correct, no fuses blown in or out of the amp. The rca's I think work. The amp I know has power due to the red light on top but the subs just Wont play. The headunit I use is an alpine ida x200 and I checked to make sure that the subwoofer setting was on. Please help me figure out what is wrong

My amp is a kicker zx350.4. It's 350 watt 4 channels 2 and 4 ohm compatible. I also have two 300 watt subs (150 each) at 4 ohms and two 6x9's. I want two hook everything up to that one amp and was wandering if they all won't be under powered. I have 2 enclosed 12 kicker comps measured at 300 watts rms (150 each) with a kicker 4 channel amp at 350 watts. I was wanting to hook up two 6"9" to the amp along with the subs. I was just wandering if the amp will allow the subs to perform at their best. If they do work how would you hook them up. If not what are some other solutions. The reason for going with 350 watt is the price, I was kind of on a budget. So if there is a solution what is the cheapest way possible. Thanks.

1991 corolla with old kenwood cd player (30w x4) but only have two front speakers installed. Upgraded speakers from stock to alpines, and it sounds better but when I turn up the volume sound is distorted. Given that my car is cheap, I'd like to keep the budget low. Am I better off installing an amplifier (my logic is - cd player works perfectly, and new ones only put our 50w x4 anyways) or a buying a new deck? If an amp will make it sound better, I'm happy to install just that because a new deck would also attract unncessary attention to my car which is really easy to break in to! No experience with car audio, so having trouble gauging what results I may get and what is worthwhile.

I located the 4wire harness under the cupholder middle console piece. this harness comes from the stock bose amp and goes to the stock bose subwoofer. I spliced into the 4wires using crimper connections, wrapped with electrical tape, used a line inverter to connect rcas to go to amp. I'm getting a rumbling from the subwoofer when the stock radio unit is off. No rumbling when RCA's disconnected so i figured noise is coming from rca signal. My ground is good to floor pan. So what's my best bet to get rid of this rumbling. I don't want to try a million things. I've heard better grounding the stock radio. Should my line inverter/rca's be pulling signal from speaker output wires that are before the stock amp? Would that give me a cleaner signal? I've been trying to figure this out for 3 days straight. It's driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

I have a 2010 hifonics brutus 1200 watt rms amp hooked up to a Solo Classic 15 from kicker. I have a issue with the sound, It hits very hard but doesnt seem to hit the lows as it should. I have it hooked up 1 ohm. I have been told its the amp. That these amps are not true rms and they have crappy crossovers in them. I am having trouble finding a amp thats good for me. I would like to get the zx 1500 from kicker but kicker amps are not 1 ohm stable. any suggestions? clarion head unit, 1/0 wiring to a 5 farad capacitor. kicker hyper twist rca's and the sub is in a 1.2cbft box as recomended by kicker.

I have a line out converter on my system and I'm getting real low bass from the subs. If I unplug one of the rca wires it will pound, then I plug it back in at it it is soft. And the loc is located behind the factory. Deck. What is going on?

Okay, i have a 2 channel amp connected to two 12 inch subs. Which sounds great and i love. However, the bass from those tends to drown out the stock door speakers (2). I would like to buy new door speakers, but i need to know if it is best to try and run the speakers and subs off the 2 channel amp or buy a new 4 channel amp or even run another 2 channel amp strictly for the door speakers. Also i have 2 6x9 on the rear deck that i am considering upgrading as well. Im thinking buying a 4 channel amp and running it stictly for my door and deck speakers is the best route, but in that case i still need to know how much wattage that amp need be. please help, any advice greatly appreciated. Okay so heres the deal my setup worked but wasnt very loud and when up high bad qualitiy.Now Bmw's have factory amps which i was using..if i use the bmw harness just for power and illumination and run speaker wire to the speakers will this work or should i try to bypass the amp which is two 12 pin plug and plays but cutting them and soldering them accordingly? its a 92 bmw 325i ....Thanks Dan

i have a sony 10 inch sub with 330 watt rms with a thump amp it pounds really good for most of the day and then cuts in and out. im not sure of the amp size but this is the second amp ive tried and they both do the same thing. i know i have it wired right and the connections are good. not sure what to do. does anyone have a recomondation for an amp that would be good for a sony 10 inch xplode sub with 330 rms and 1100 watt max. any help would be appretiated!

What could be wrong with this car stereo amp?

I installed my brother's car stereo for him a couple of weeks ago. Up until this point, it's worked perfectly fine. All of a sudden it started blowing the 30 amp fuse that is in the amp, not the inline power wire fuse, but the fuse box style fuse that plugs directly into the amp. I have changed it four times now and each time that I change it it blows again within seconds. Is it more likely to be a wiring problem or something within the amp? Any suggestions are appreciated. I installed a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500 and 2 12" MTX Roadthunder subwoofers and once i got it all wired through the car i connected the power at the battery and it didnt come on. My fuse is good and so are the amp and speakers. I have a solid ground connection in my trunk with a nut and washers for extra assurance. I had it all hooked up in a different car and it worked fine. I don't know what to look for next in order to make it work. Any comments or ideas will be greatly appreciated, Thanks. -Corey checked all wiring multiple times and still nothing, the fuse to the amp wiring looks good as well. it puzzles me because i had it hooked up in a grand marquis and it worked perfect, and all i did was perform a simple switch and it doesn't work? anymore suggestions or ideas could help. amp, 2 ohm dvc power acoustics?

ok i got 3 ten inch 2ohm dual voice coil power acoustik fubrs. had 4 1 blew. rockford fosgate punch 800.2, that has a gain problem (broken gain knob and the frequency selector just turns instead of stoping at the highest and lowest point. well this is the same amp i blew 1 of my L5s with. is there a way to salvage this amp? so my subs are not clipping from the over extended gain on 1 of the channels? also on the fubrs i wired them up to 4 ohms each ( running a wire from the positive of 1 voice coil to the negative of the other voice coil, then running a set of wire too the remainging 2 voice coils, per speaker) so by doing that i would be creating 3 seperate 4ohm loads, this is series wiring i think. what would be the best way 2 wire my subs safely, i know it depends on the amp, if i cant get my hands on another 10" power acoustic fubr 2ohm dvc sub 600rms what would be closest to one of them. would a alpine r type mesh in with the family well? help sugestions anything will be appreciated! thx matt.

I recently had a system installed into my truck. I listen to mostly rap. I was curious what I should set all my settings to to get the loudest bass for rap, without blowing the speaker. I recently bought 2 sets of speakers. One is the Polk DB651 6.5 and the other is the Polk MM691 6x9. I will be running both with the 6x9 in the front. I will be running them on the Alpine CDA-105 deck. I know that the 6.5's have an impedance of 4 OHMS and the 6x9's have an impedance of 2.7 OHMS. I know that the lower OHMS speakers usually need an amplifier to sound good, but will they still sound well if i do not run an amplifier? Also, someone told me about a pre-amp. Is is possible to use one of these to power just the front speakers to make them sound good? I am a little new to the car audio stuff. How can I get the lower OHMS speakers to still sound good without buying and installing a $200 amp?

I have 3 amps in my car the 1 to my sub has been blown for awhile but i still had sound through the door speakers and the sub worrked jst no bass...but i finally got a new amp 2 replace it well while i waz hooking it up the ground and power wire touched and sparked well i finised hooking it up turn my car on the radio turns on but no sound at all and i look at the other amps and now there power lights wont come on and no sound at all now whats wrong or what should i do?plz help!

Good day. I hope you could help me with my question. My current car audio has a Pioneer DEH2050mp (50w per channel + 1 pre out at the back), 2pcs 6" Targa seps, 2pcs 6x9 Targa coax (both seps & coax are powered by my HU), 2cps 10" DD 500b sub & 1pc DDC5b 2or4chanel amp (powering my subs). My question is, what if i buy another DDC5b to power my seps & coax, would it be possible to connect it to my system? Some people told me i should use a y-connector to bridge it, are they correct? What is the difference between an internal and external car amplifier? My car's (2004 Saab 9-3) amplifier is destroyed from water damage. The dealership is trying to charge me $1K+ for a new internal amp. What are my options here? Would I be able to purchase an aftermarket amp for less? Would I need a new headunit? I want to hook up my car amplifier in my house for a more powerful custom made surround sound system. Think I could just use a battery and recharge it once in a while or does anyone know of anyone that makes a power inverter that can handle up to 300 amps? I was thinking of hooking up 2 amps, 1 4000 watt one for the subs and one 2400 watt one for the numerous amounts of mid and high range speakers. Has anyone tried this before or had this idea?

Many of the complete amplifier kits, example rated for a 700 watt amplifier come with a 10 gauge power cable. Many of the gauge charts from the online car audio techs, would recommend a 4 gauge wire, but they sell the amp kits with the 10 gauge. I guess bigger is better, more efficient and safer for the installation, but I would expect them to add some * adjacent to the kit specs with their recommendation.

I currently have two 5.25 inch Boss LA53's in the front (150 watts RMS, 300 peak) and two 6X9 inch Boss D69.5's in the back (400 watts RMS, 800 peak). Obviously this is too much power for a radio to handle and i am very inexperienced in the knowledge of car amplifiers. Im using a 4 gauge car amp power wire that will be going through a firewall using a 1/2 hole size rubber grommet that leads to the car battery. I purchased an amplifier and subs for my car. I installed everything and it was working great, but suddenly the subs stopped hitting. When i replaced the speaker wire thinking maybe they shorted out, it worked for a few days after but then it stopped working again. I then took my system to the professionals and was told that my amp was not "2 ohm" compatible and that it is now blown. So I don't make this mistake again, I wanted to know what it is that went wrong.

Whats wrong with this car amp?

my buddy gave me his old car amplifier. It's Pyle BlueWave 2340 1000 watt amp. When you plug it in, it turns on and looks legit, however, it doesn't play any sound. I don't think it even makes the buzzing noise when u crank it up. We tried hooking up subs and speakers, and still no luck. I opened it and i found something that I didn't really expect.. I can't really explain what exactly i saw, cause i don't know what that part is called but i took 2 pictures of it: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n8/igor4343go/Picture0118.jpg (look at the bottom left corner and u can see the burning spot) http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n8/igor4343go/Picture0118.jpg What do u think is wrong with it? Remember, it does turn on! Another thing to mention, the bass remote doesn't turn on, like the light "Power" doesn't turn on. Is there anyway to fix it? or it's dead? Car Audio Question-subs, amp, speakers?

I know very little about car audio to be honest. I'm about to buy an 03 tiburon base so the stereo will be ok, but not great. I was thinking about putting a system in. I was thinking about buying a 12'' pioneer sub, w/ pyle 2-channel amp. My questions are would the stock speakers be able to handle that or should I also look into buying speakers? Also, the sub produces max 1400 watts, which the amp does as well. Is this what I should go by to determine how powerful the bass/sound would be? Or should I look into something like the nominal power, ohms, etc.? Thanks. I have an aftermarket kenwood head unit that is currently in my old car and will be installed in the tiburon. I believe it's a 50w one. And if I were to get speakers, I was looking at sony speakers that produce 400 watts per speaker. Do they even make any speakers that produce over 1000 watts?

Thanks for the info about the 2 12'' blue kenwood tornados and the 2000 watt plye dryver amp .But I have a lot more to add on. Now I know 2000 watts is too much for my subwoofers since their 600 watt peak. But I just read more about the amp I dont have 2 use all 2000 watts I can hook my woofers up like this: 4x 200W RMS at 4 Ohms 4x 500W MAX at 4 Ohms 2x 800W MAX at 4 Ohms Bridged 4x 350W RMS at 2 Ohms Are those options still too much for my woofers? And one more thing since I have 2 12'' kenwood tornados I decided to buy 1 more subwoofer so I can have 3, and now im buying a enclosure that holds 3.The 3rd subwoofer im buying is a 12'' 1600 watt Lanzar max pro series for just 39.99 with a free 1 year warranty. Now ive heard running 2 different brands of subwoofers in 1 car is bad but im using 2 different amps is it still bad? If I can im using the 2000 watt for the 2 kenwoods & using a 2-Channel 400 watt boss amp for the lanzer until I get a better amp for it.

ok my friend owed me some cash and he didnt have any at the time but he had a pyle chopper series amp that i liked and it worked fine and sounded sweet but the dumb @$$ put it into another car but when we did it he hooked up the ground then did the 12v(not the key trigger what ever you wanna call it) but anyways he had power on and did the 12v 2nd when he did this he touched the chassy of the amp with the screwdriver when he was installing it and the power was on so i think it fryed it b/c the fuses are good and he said they never poped (they didnt i talked to someone that was there when he did it) so i took it as a part of the $ he owed me took it home unscrewed the bottom plate off to look for screwed up wires but i didnt find any but it doesnt work whats going on?? how/can i fix it?? (he payed me in full after i told him i couldnt get it to work and he said i can have it so i wanna fix it i love this amp) how much would it be to fix it??? were do i go?? can i do it???

pyle is shitty firestorm is ight, my friend has a dual bandpass 12 inch subs with a 500 watt visonik system and i cant stand being in his ride cuz it feels like my ears r going to bleed. iv heard sony exlpodes and they suck compared to these visoniks, sony sucks in genral ur paying for a name not quality, so wut other brands are out there and wuts the best?

Ok, i've had my car system hooked up for a few months now and everything has been working perfect. We were in a drought and werent getting any rain in that time frame. Just the other day it poured and when i turned my car on in the morning, the subwoofer wasn't bumpin. I opened the trunk and noticed there was a little water on the top of my amp but not a lot. Now the amp wont power the sub, so does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix it?

I know about RMS, and good brands.. I want to know what is the recommended RMS for me? I don't need to be heard from a mile away. I just want something thats a little above average. I listen to a lot of hip hop music. (Jay-Z!) Does the receiver need to be a certain amount of watts to be compatible with the amp/speakers/subs? And mainly, how many subs should I get that will sound good? (but like I said, not crazy ridiculously loud!) Please understand I want it to kick, just not to the point where its too much and sounds trashy. So please, give me your opinion of what kind of stereo, amp, speakers & subs to get. Including quantity of each (2amps, or 2subs or w/e) I've done a lot of research I would really appreciate your help :D

My price range is about $100 (though if there's just no way I can get it this cheap, please tell me haha) My only real requirement is that it has an AUX jack for plugging in an MP3 player. If this matters (because I dont know a thing about stereos) I am looking to play some decently heavy bass such as Pitbull or Lil' Wayne. I will be getting new speakers, an amp and subwoofers as finances allow, but my dad suggested starting with the stereo and working my way to the rest of the things i want. Where does the remote wire on a amp go connected on my stock stereo?

I add an hi/low converter to my stock stereo along with a fosgate amp that had no cross over leveler which is why I added a kenwood EQ to it. Everything was working fine but I came across a Kicker 300.1 amp with more power. So i took the EQ & amp out and connected the kicker amp. When I turn the key the light on the amp flashes as if it has power but then goes dead. So for whatever reason the amp is not getting power. Is the amp bad? Do I have something connected wrong? The remote wire from the amp is tapped into the wire for the ignition switch on the back of the stereo... Does the remote need to be tapped into the +12V wire on the back of the stereo?? Thanks in advance... If it helps the car is a 95 Chrysler Cirrus with stock stereo.

i currently have a blaupunkt key west cd169 it is old and has different wires than what i am used to. i have a kenwood kac-6104d amp hooked up and i brought the stereo wire through the car and to the amp. i unhooked the amp plugged in the rca cables and saw that the harness did not have a striped white and blue chord that i was used to with my previous alpine cde-9845 deck in my other car. there is a place on the amp to hook up a "p.connector" which is what im trying to connect to the deck but idk which wire i should connect....help?

subwoofer not working in my car. first time hookup and still no sound?

i have a 1800 watt kenwood class d mono block amp, a jvc stereo system and a 1000 watt dual bandpass subwoofer. took it to the audio shop to get it hooked up. i was amazed at the sound but later found out that it was just the stock speakers i had in the car that was putting out the bass and not my subwoofer. the subs do not move or anything and on my amp is a red light that blinks every once in awhile. all of the wires are hooked up, I don't know what else would be causing the subs to not work. the audio shop said that the bandpass was to small and is designed more for a hatch back or a jeep, not my dodge intrepid and that I wouldn't get the sound that im looking for. but still no sound comes from the subs. any help would be much appreciated

I am trying to keep my car as factory as can be but I want to have a nice stereo. I really dont want to have to replace my deck. I plan on getting some kicker 4" for the fronts and some kicker 5 1/4" for the rears, little weak i know, but I cannot mod the car in any way. I also want to install a 10" subwoofer, I know I can hook up speaker line input to my amp but then my sub will have a dirty sound. Also, does any one know the power output from the head unit in the car? I might have to run 2 amps, or a 5 channel or a 4 channel in 3 channel mode.... Any other suggestions feel free!

Hi, I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 sxi sport coupe 3 door, i have recently had my stereo removed by a company to see if it had an adapter on the back so it can plug in a sub and amp. when fitting my stereo back in, the right hand front and back speakers didn't work. The bloke that fitted the same radio back in once he checked it, was only 19 and the manger said he didn't have the experience, yet the manager couldn't work out why either. Surly it isn't that hard to fix some speakers? Does anyone know why? Surly two speakers wouldn't blow at the same time? Or does the stereo need resetting? Would be very grateful for some advice, Thank You, Matt

Fix my truck or just gut it?

95 s10, 2.2, 5 spd, 4x2. 177k with rebuild motor but we warped the head when we ran it dry on oil. there is a small leak by the oil pan, there is a bunch of spacers instead of oem rubber washer that it call for. Also the transmission lets out late so I think the release bearing is beginning to go out, the tranny shifts just fine and the clutch is strong. Replaced, fuel and air filter, pcv valve, temperature gauge valve, wires, plugs, coils, valve gasket, radiator and radiator cap, new carpet and new bucket seats inside, stereo was completely replaced with a sub and amp behind the seats(short cab). bedliner was sprayed in, new tires and brakes. I spent a lot of money into this truck and I would like your opinion on where I should get the head fixed and keep driving the truck or just sell it for cheap and finance a new or low mileage used car. I have never swapped out a cylinder head before but being that the truck is a four cylinder with no ac and me having all the tools and heated work space I need, I feel like I can replace the head and head gasket on my own. I priced a remanufactured cylinder head at $150, head gasket set at around $100 and I can fix my release bearing issue with $150 clutch kit. I would also have to master a way to fix the oil drain plug leak. Please note that these price are with the discount I get from knowing the "right people". Should I just go ahead and take a day off from work and get it all done or should I not even bother and finance a car. I was pre approved at a dealership for a new ford with 1k down and $300 a month payments. Which one is a better option for me

Should I switch out stock speakers,or get a sub?

Finances are extremely limited for me right now but I know that I want to improve the bass in my2006 Mazda Tribute. my dad suggested replacing the stock speakers with some nice ones and getting a new stereo. The bass I am looking for is enough to feel it inside the car relatively good. I dont care if anyone outside hears it or not. Should I replace the stereo and speakers, or should I go for an amp and a sub? I thinkI only will need one in a box. Suggestions and advice are appreciated. Again, I unfortunately dont have a lot of money to spend, as I am 18 and dont have a ton of money coming my way. I need to figure out the best way to get what I am looking for without spending enough to feed a 3rd world country. add: music I listen to is along the lines of Pitbull and Lil' Wayne. My mom has 5.1 Bose speakers in her 2008 GMC acadia that I really like, I want to TRY and get that, or close to that. Heavy bass in her car rattles my lungs ;)

Want to replace the factory head unit in my 2001 Chevy Tahoe. Wiring Question.?

No Bose system with factory sub and on-star. The factory amplifier for the speakers is behind the glove box. I'm not worried about keeping the on-star working, I was just going to bypass it. I was going to order a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X993 off of Crutchfield and get the factory GM wiring harness with it so I can solder all the wires outside the car and just plug it straight in to the stock harness. Quick and easy. My question is, will that hurt the factory amplifier and will there be a sound quality improvement if I go this route? I was told at a stereo shop that I would need to bypass the factory amp if I want to install a new head unit and that I would lose the factory sub...or buy a $70 converter that regulates how much power goes to the factory amplifier and I could plug straight into the stock harness. Not sure if they are just trying to get me to spend more money there or what. Need a second opinion. Let's hear it!

I have a Dual XIA5600 2-channel amp powering 2 Dual 12's. I have had it in my car for about a year and the other day it just quit working. LED on amp is not coming on at all. I checked all wires and fuses including the ground and REM wire. After that I took the cover off it to see if i could see anything wrong. I found maybe where something had burned but im not sure. I got this amp from a friend for free, he told me that it may not work but he didn't know if it did, well i got everything hooked up, It doesn't work at all, but i dont see anything wrong with it, no sound comes out when subs are connected and the protect and the power light won't even come on but i dont see anything inside or out that can be causing this that I know of, I am usually pretty good with electronics, but everything outside is connected, and inside there are no burnt places, no cracks in the circut board, no bad capacitors or anything wrong, could there be a way to fix this problem??

Alright guys, I currently have 2 15" jbl subwoofers with a TMA T.500 monoblock amplifier, they hit pretty hard, I also have replaced my stock speakers with MB Quart speakers, on both doors and in the rear, and they also have the 2 tweeters that come with them in the door... and I also have 2 more tweeter on my side windshield up front wired to my jensen flipout screen i believe.. however the guy hooked them up. My bass is turned all the way up as well as my music but they arent to equal, the bass is alot louder and it gets hard to hear the vocals,, any help so i can make the music louder??????

How do I connect an amplifier to my cars head unit if it has no RCA jacks?

My car head unit and amplifier will not turn on. I have checked the wires over and over.?

Earlier today I got the head unit working somehow, but it didn't take that long to turn back off. The remote wire is connected to the power antenna wire like it should be, the amplifier is connected to the positive side of the battery. All of the fuses are fine. Everything is grounded properly. When I did get the head unit working, sometimes it would turn off and if i pressed on it a certain way, it would come back on again. I'm am thinking of taking it to a professional, but before I put out the money I'd like a second opinion. I have tried it without the remote wire hooked up with the amp wire disconnected to the battery, I still dont get anything though. It is a 2005 lancer with a BOSS head unit, I don't know the exact head unit model, but I can find out if I need to. Thanks design, thats something I've been meaning to do with the meter. I'll report back. The blue and red wire aren't getting power with the car turned on, but the yellow is.

I replaced a crappy Jensen cd reciever with a new sony one. I drove around multiple times the day of the change, and everything worked find including my amp and subs in the trunk. The next day I had bought an auxiliary cord that plugs in the front so i could use my zune in the car, and the next thing I know my amps not getting power. I've checked all the fuses in my car and nothing seems wrong. Theres a slight burnt smell in my trunk so I'm pretty sure its the amp. What went wrong?

I have 80 watts RMS component speakers in the front and 85 watts RMS 3-ways in the back. What kinda of amp should I get? I saw some for 75 watts and others for 100 watts. I want the best performance possible, but I don't want to blow my speakers, of course. The front speakers are 4 ohms and the rear speakers are 3.6 ohms. Does that matter?

Hello, I am installing an amp and stereo in my car that came out of a car I recently sold. The stereo shop wanted to charge me almost $550 to install everything because I did not purchase it from them. Here is my problem, I have the long cord that has all the speaker and I think the blue remote wire wrapped together that goes from the amp under the carpet all the way to the dash then I have the wire harness with all the wires that I would connect to the long set of wires from the amp. I have all of the speaker leads connected to the harness and the blue wire is still unconnected at both ends but I still have some open wires and I am not sure how to connect them or where they would be connected. It says the orange is the dash light the orange and black is the dimmer the red is the ignition switch black is the chassis ground yellow constant battery and black/white amp ground. Im just not sure how to or where to connect them. Thanks for any help you can give. But there is never any volt drop when i turn the subs up. My brother say it is actually the cap is draining the bat when the car is off. What is the problem and how can i solve?

Why do my subwoofers mess up my automatic transmission?

I have a boss 1500 watt amp, 2 Power Acoustik 12's, and a $80 wiring kit from walmart. My friend hooked it all up (he's hooked several up) and it all worked fine for about 2 months. Slowly my car's automatic transmission started MESSING UP the 1st time of the day that i use it.. It screeches like a stickshift when you mess up shifting gears. When i take the subs out this problem stops. How can i fix this and still keep the subs hooked up??? By the way, the transmission problem happens any first time of the day that i start my car. even if the subs arent turned on.

If its as good as the mofo or almost as good, it will save me a lot of money. This will be used with a 4000 watt amp that pushes 1700 watts rms @ 2 ohms. but im confused. the sub has 2 2 ohm coils but it is rated at 4 ohms. it confuses me. My friend was telling me about how a competition amp can give you a different sound then a non competition amp. In other words, i bought a regular power acoustik 1200wRMS 2000w peak 1 ohm amplifier to power my 12" mofo. he was saying if I bought say a MA audio competition amp, it would provide a different sound aka lower more audible base, instead of the kicky/punchy base that my current amp puts out. Does this make sense, or is an amp an amp, power wise, and it really dont matter?

Hi so i've got a factory fitted car stereo, with a fairly decent pair of rear left right speakers i bought a nice 10 inch sub a few years ago along with a box t house it i want t add the sub t the rear speaker loop, cant afford an amp right now, so need a budget solution, any suggestions, theorys actual technicle advise all welcome cheers thanks for t advise, 2 options taken from: 1) buy channel splitter, but then sub no have power no bass 2) buy an amp, problem solved cool no problem, say i buy an amp, what channel input is that gonna use? will my head unit need a seperate output?

Amp Sub Wiring Problem in volvo?

I have a car audio setup to a factory stereo with alpine amp m500 which puts out 500 rms watts. The amp pushes two 10" jackhammers. The problem is it shuts off every time i crank up the volume. My Ground is good. im using a 8gauge wire with huge red fuse says 50 on it. Im guessing its a 50 amp fuse? Im thinking its my fuse thats giving the problem any advice will help. Oh yea does matter if i am using two different wires but the gauge is the same. I brought one amp wire from walmart which came out short so i had to get another 3feet of it from home depot both of the gauge is 8 and i connected the wires with a wire shrink thingy.

My alternator is undercharging the battery. Do I need to disconnect my capacitor from my stereo system?

I bought a new used car that came with an after market stereo system. It appears that whoever owned the car before me removed the amp and subwoofer. Now all that remains is a basic 50 watt amp in the dashboard headend. But they left behind a 1 farad capacitor underneath the passenger seat. When I first got the car, my alternator was overcharging the battery by quite a bit. So I had that replaced. But now, with the new alternator, it slightly undercharges when the A/C, lights and radio and other electrical systems are running. My question is this: Is the capacitor putting too much stress on the new alternator? I suspect that the reason the previous alternator was overcharging the battery was because the previous owner installed a bigger alternator to power the bigger stereo system. But without the amp and sub, this bigger alternator overcharged the system. Now that there's a smaller alternator, I'm slightly undercharging. I suspect that if I remove the capacitor, that might solve the problem since it won't be taxing the alternator anymore. Am I correct? re: KB's response: I realize that there's zero need for a capacitor since there's not a big system in there. But as I said in my question, the previous owner removed whatever powerful amp that was installed but decided to leave the capacitor behind. So really, the question I want answered is, will removing this unnecessary capacitor solve the problem of my alternator undercharging the battery?

I have a kenwood car stereo. whenever the music gets too loud, it will turn off suddenly. why?

i have installed many car stereos before. so this isnt my first rodeo. say a song has a quiet intro, then gets loud all of a sudden... right when it gets loud it will turn off. so thats how i know its not random.. and thats say at volume 17. then it will turn off again when it turns back on right as the music starts.. so i turn it down when it restarts.. and it will still turn off at around 15 or so. but it wont restart at like, 12. and sometimes it wont turn back on at all. so is this a ground problem? a wiring problem? an internal amp problem? i really like listening to music... and this bothers me.. anything will help

I Hear the buzzin hummin noise only When I have My Audio Control Epicenter Connected. And when i Remove the epicenter, The bad Sound Is Gone!! What could be the problem? In this situation. IS my epicenter not working!! I relocated the Ground Wire, And RCA's Brand New. The amp Is connected to Factory Radio, getting my signal with an RCA converter from one of the rear speakers. PLEASE Help!! Pro Installers advice only!! On The Audio Control Epicenter I Decreased the Voltage From 12 volts to 2.5 volts. The Noise Decreased a whole lot, But the noise is still noticeable. What Could I Do!! IS IT The Epicenter Thats Causing the Problem?

Kenwood KAC-9104D amp?

I just installed this amp brand new out of the box. Im using 4 awg wire from the batt. When i turn on the stereo the amp lights come on normaly then they get real dim and theirs no output from the amp. When the car is running with out the amp hooked up i get 14 volts at the end of the amp wires. When the amp is hooked up and on i get only 9 volts at the terminals... Their is no load on the amp when im getting the 9 volts. could the amp be defective or am i just missing something? This is my 1st kenwood but I have never had a problem with other amps like this b4. Any answers would be helpful.

car troubles. what could the problem be?

I drive a 97' ford contour, and I have a pretty big audio system in my trunk. I have a rockford fosgate P1000 amp, and two 12' alpine type R's, with a rockford capacitor. I got the subs wired down to 1 ohm. A few weeks ago my alternator went out, and im guessing it was the same alternator that was put in the car eleven years ago. Before my car died, i made it to advanced autoparts to get tested. First my car audio system shut off, then after a while my car stereo shut off, then soon my speedomiter wouldnt go up, and all the dashlights came on then shlowly dimmed away, and finally the car would harldy accelerate when i pushed on the gas. I hardly made it to advanced auto parts and left the car running. My capacitor didnt even read numbers, it said low. I unhooked all the power wires after that. We tested the alternator and the battery. He said both of them were shot. I told my dad that both were toast, and he said theres no way the battery can be broken. We took the old alternator out, and put a used one in. It ran great for about a week, so i hooked my subs up again. They ran great for a night, then day two came around and the battery light came on, but everything still ran strong. Day three was here, and my subwoofers and car stereo would shut off, then turn back on after about two seconds. Later in the day my car started to run bad, so i turned the car off, and it wouldnt start back up again. I had the car jumped, and started heading for home. After about three miles the car started to run bad again, and then shortly after, it just got to the point were it was so slow, and the wheels and breaks locked up, and died very shortly. Jumped the car one more time, and didnt last for more then a minute. I keep trying to tell my dad the battery is shot, like the guy at advanced said a few weeks ago. But my dad is determined that its the alternator, even though we just replaced it with the used alternator. So could it be the battery like the guy at advanced said? Or did this alternator go bad again? Or could it be a short or a fuse, or even bad fuel lines or fuel pump? I just have no clue what it could be, i havnt tested the battery or alternator today. Today is the day it kept dying. Let me know what you think. thanks alot

Hey i am a noob at this car stereo system stuff. I have a KDC X591 head unit. It is saying online that it puts out 22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels so i have been trying to find speakers that are 22 watts but cant find nothing. what am i doing wrong. I just got my mustang a few weeks ago and would like to put in an amp and stuff. the people before i had it had a stereo system put took most of it out. They left the KDC X591 head unit for me and amplifier which is a vra 2.0 vr3 so if you can help me find out what i can do with this please let me know.

Speaker amp doesn't play sound, only bass?

In my car I have a monoblock amp which powers two 12 inch subs. But then I also have wired a 2nd, smaller (stereo) amp to the back speakers, but when I connect it, all the speakers play is bass and no sound. Any ideas?

They did not work when I bought the car. The factory stereo that was in the car died, so I changed to an aftermarket, hoping this would also solve the speaker problem, but even with the new stereo the rear speakers only work sometime. I can not find an amp anywhere that may be causing the problem.

Okay... I'm going to make this as simple and straight forward as possible.. First of all my deck is an Alpine CDA-7878 which apparently was "top of the line" a few years back.. I was not aware of that until I researched a little on it.. OKAY in any case.. All I want is a car stereo system that sounds decent.. I'm not trying to win bass wars.. And I don't necessarily want to have the loudest system on the street. I listen to mainly rock but when I go out with my friends and everything they like to listen to more up beat hip hop type of music. How do i get rid of motor noise or interference in my car stereo?

I went to put a new RCA cord from my new head unit to my amp for my sub woofers in my car today. The back of my head unit has a red and white wires, the cord has black and white. so i plugged the black into the red and the white into the white. i ran the cord down the right side of my car and when i turned it on i heard this high pitched noise coming from speakers. so i took it out and ran the cord down the left side of my car thinking it would go away, but no luck. how can i get rid of this noise?

ok this is going to be my first system that i am having installed in my car. i am getting.. 2 JL Audio 12w3v2 in the trunk ( rms power handling 300 wats) Alpine CDA 105 head unit 5.25 alpine speakers up front 6x9 alpine speakers in the back im just not sure what type of amp i should get. a friend who knows alot about this type of stuff said i should get a 4 channel amp and have one channel to the front speakers and two channles for the subs someone i work with that know alot about this stuff says that the amp i should get should be a 4 channel amp (4x100wattRMS). he says that front speakers should 2x100w and 1x200-300w for the subs

If my car stereo is giving each of my speakers 200watts 50 x 4 chanels and I run my speaker also through a amp that gives out 200watts 50watts X 4 Chanel will that give each out the speakers a total of 100 watts per each speaker or still just 50watts x 4 Chanel

vocals and guitar solos are barely audible. I reset my head deck (JVC KD-R600) and my amp (TMA T2 320) to their original settings. I dont have a noise filter or anything. I have changed the EQ on my head and no luck.

ok... i have a 1995 accord LX. im planning to install an entry level bass (10inch kicker or fosgate). if i were to install that, would the system work? I am talking about battery wise... You need to wire up each sub-woofer as an 8ohm load, in stereo to your amp. Use a Y adapter to wire your sub woofer output on your system, because bass isn't played in stereo. Most single coil sub-woofers are sold as 8 ohms, meant to be bridged. Keep the woofers far away from your TV, because the strong magnets mess up the picture. what does all this mean in simpler terms... ive got the y adaptor, but do i connect my stereo 2 my subwoofer through the speaker ports or what?

im trying 2 connect up my amplifier(TV type-not car) to my hi-fi system and then the amplifier to my car sub to have extra bass! how do i do this is simple terms, preferably a step by step guide would be helpful.ive got the Y adapter/RCA plugs and 1 pair of subwoofer speaker cables. my amplifier is an old AWA one with AUX, Phono and Tape RCA plug ports at the back. I have an 8" Kicker subwoofer and the bass coming out of it seems weak and a bit delayed. The stock sub sounded better. The Kicker is rated at about 200RMS and 100 continuous if that helps.

The other day i noticed that when i turn my car on and the radio starts, one of the subs makes a thump noise and decompresses any ideas? The box is ported correctly, being it was made for the sub.

Is it better to overpower of underpower a car subwoofer?

Here's the deal...I have a car amp that outputs 1200 watts rms max.....I can either get a pioneer sub that has an rms output of 1000, which would overpower the speaker a little but I would turn it down of course to get the optimal sound....or I can get a similar sub that has an rms wattage of 1500 watts, which I wouldnt be able to turn up the amp all the way. Heres my dilema.....if I got the sub with the 1500 watts rms it would be underpowered by 300 watts, and I am afraid it wouldnt sound good because the speaker is not reaching its optimum level of output...so which is better to have, slightly overpowering a sub or slightly underpowered? My amp is 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm stable.....it doesn't give a max wattage......its a hifoniks zues or something like that.....

What would cause a car subwoofer to quit working?

I have a 12" Audiobahn subwoofer in my truck, and all of a sudden, it just quit working. I checked all the connections, and they seemed fine. I traced all wires to the amp, and it seems to be connected. All the lights on the amp are coming on, so it is getting power, but there is absolutely nothing coming out of the subwoofer. From my understanding, if the sub was blown, it should still attempt to make some rattling noises and whatnot...but there is nothing coming out of it at all. I pulled the amp and poppped the case of it, and looked around, and I didn't see or smell and burnt spots at all. Any suggestions?

I have an aftermarket head unit which I bought as well as a 4 channel 1000 watt amp. Subwoofer timing trouble when listening to techno?

I have found that the (JL audio) subwoofer in my car doesnt seem to keep up with the beat during techno tracks. It sounds like it hits a half second behind the song. It doesnt do it for any other genre besides techno. Is this something i can fix with the settings on the amplifier? Or the stereo? Its very annoying to listen to but i dont know what to do about it.

i have a mustang with a lot of valuable stuff inside [LCD flip-down screen, loud expensive sound system, touchscreen in-dash, and a ps2] and not to mention its sitting on 20'' chrome rims. last night my mom's truck got broken into and i don't want anyone to even THINK of doing the same to my car. i currently have an astra 2-way pager alarm but want to know if i should add like some sort of sensors to warn people when they get too close or something like that. or should i just go to like autozone and get a car cover and just use that. any advice/ideas?

I am interested in purchasing a new camera, but am not really sure what model suits me thats out right now. I currently have a Panasonic Lumix FZ-30. First and foremost, I LOVE that it has a flip down lcd screen and would prefer to get a camera that has one. I also LOVE the range of settings and the ability to use manual mode as well as auto mode, and most of my pictures are macro. Better quality at a higher ISO would be nice, but not a huge issue because I tend to stay with low ISOs anyways. I cant spend more than 1000$. Since I am on a budget, I dont really want an slr because I cant afford the different lenses to get the variety of zoom I have with my current camera. I am just really behind on whats out right now. Do you have any suggestions?

I want a head unit with a flip down screen that opens when you start the car. I want it to play dvd's, mp3 cd's. usb drives and flash cards. I have a vr3 head unit now but it isn't powering my xplode 6x9's in the back. Back up camera possibly, video input preferred, brand does NOT matter. Must have sub output. GPS is a maybe but would be cool. Again, money is no object. It would be very cool if it had an external block that mounted in a console or something that took the flash drives and what not. Can you easily flip a TFT lcd for better viewing angles?

I have a flip down display for in car video. It seems to view best when viewed from straight on or from above. [had out of the car. ] however when sitting in the car, you are below the display slightly, and the image has the dark shadowy look unless you put your head up higher, to view the screen from a higher angle. So, is it possible to take it apart, filp it over, and then somehow rewire it to flip the image to match? would that approach solve the viewing angle issue?
