subwoofers question ?

HI, i would like to know if running my subwoofers (600 watts rms) will drain the car battery during the cold winter. I do have a capacitor of 3 farads and will be getting a 6 farad one. Also will the capacitor help to not drain the battery. I once got stuck on the highway because the battery died but i had no capacitor during that time and the battery had not ever been changed, will this happen during the winter thank you

A question for experienced car alarm installers?

I bought an OEM alarm for my 95 Ford T-Bird. It has all the directions and stuff. Put the siren in, went to wire up the unit and got to a point in the directions where it tells me "for positive systems, connect purple wire, for negative systems connect yellow wire". It has the same thing in a few places later on for different wires. It's really vague. I guess it's talking about the ground (earth)? But that seems weird, since all cars except for like 1960s MGs and Jaguars and stuff are negative ground (so why would it even have an option for positive ground???) Is there anything else it could mean?

How hard is it to replace a factory honda car alarm with an aftermarket one?

So I have a '93 accord with a factory alarm. The key fob finally broke, and from what I hear, "universal" key fobs don't work with factory alarms so I have to get one from the factory for $100. Well for that price I could just get a fancier aftermarket one off ebay with a pager, I'm just wondering an idea how difficult and roughly how much time it would take to install to decide which route I'm going to go. I've worked with electronics before doing basic soldering, I've also installed a couple car stereos before, and home theatre systems are easy for me, so that's about where my skill level is at. Also are there any important things a first time installer should know, or be away to look out for when installing a new alarm? The one I might be thinking about is the autopage rf-420, and I might end up adding a proximity sensor and/or pain siren. Thanks

Is it always best to have the dealer install a car alarm?

I just bought a new 2009 TSX. I really need to put in an alarm and starter and I really dont know where to go to. The dealer said that Acura is the only place to get it installed... anyone else might mess it up and then void the factory warranty. But the price he gave me was ridiculous (1200). Theres this alarm place in town that I've been going to for years and they would probably charge me half of that price. The dealer said that only Acura trained installers should touch my car.... its way too advanced for other installers and cutting the wrong wires would be way too easy. Ifeel that he may have a point but also that he is trying to rip me off. Help me out guys!!!

Car Alarm Bypass Notification?

I just had an alarm reinstalled on my 09 Corolla recently. After the alarm was installed, I realized that when I lock my doors the car would chirp once and like 3 seconds later it would chirp again. So does that mean the alarm is working properly? Because usually car alarms chirp once when you lock it. I looked at the owner's manual and it says this additional chirping a few seconds later after the doors are locked are called "bypass notification" meaning that an input is active (doors open, sensor triggering, etc) while the car is armed or something. So I brought my car back to the installer and he told me that the alarm chirps once when it's locked and again a few seconds later because he set the alarm on zone 2. He said he made the alarm chirp like this (2 times) because he wants to prevent the alarm from going off like before. The previous alarm he installed for me kept on going off and the warning chirps would chirp for no reason. So does setting the alarm on zone 2 (I think he said zone 2) makes my car chirp once and then chirp again a few seconds later? Is there anything I need to worry about my car chirping twice like this when locking the doors? I've already tried opening each of my 4 doors and it will trigger the alarm. And I tried bumping my car (near the roof that is slightly above the driver's door) and it will make the warning chirps sound. So is there anything I should be worried about even if my alarm still give that additional chirp after the first chirp?

Car Alarm- Viper 350HV?

Hello, i had a Viper 350HV car alarm installed on my car last november and i was wondering if i could somehow add the remote start feature on this alarm. the remote is a 3 button remote with 1st button unlocks/locks car 2nd button pops my hatch on my s.u.v. when i hold it down and the 3rd button is a panic button. does anyone know how i could wire this myself. i dont wanna take it back to the installer to get done because i dont want to have to spend anymore money. i would like to keep the buttons on the remote set the way i have them , but just add the remote start. and how do i need to wire the main unit and what to. Any help would be great thanks.

I would like to better understand what the installer is telling me about my alarm system in a 2001 GMC Sierra. First off I was looking at a viper remote start with a two way pager and that is what this is based off of. What I would like to know is; where do the transponder bypass modules or passkey interface modules tie into the whole mix and what is there function? Also, how do they help speed up the installation time? If you have any good links that would be great too!

The ORGASALARM doesn't exist. But it would be incredibly effective. I'm looking for a car alarm where I can choose what sounds to have as my alarm tone.....i'd program it to sound like a climaxing woman if someone tried to break into my car. That would definitely get people's attention and the thief would be so WTF that he's bug out.

We just bought a Honda Accord that was used as an undercover unit. The police lights are hidden inside the head and tail lights. There's also what we think is a siren. Could we use the equiptment for a car alarm? I'm thinking not likely, but man that would be cool. We recently had our other car broken into and I know those thugs would be gone with the quickness if when the car alarm went off, it was those side lights and a very load siren.

I have a remote starter installed in my car (Nissan Sentra) with a key fob that is connected to the OEM theft alarm. Recently it has been malfunctioning- when i try to unlock the doors with the remote, the alarm sounds. The only way to kill the alarm is to stick the key in the passenger side door. What could be causing this malfunction? I've had the remote starter for years so I really don't think that's the problem- it's the alarm itself.

my pc keeps making a continuous car alarm sound, it makes the sound randomly, it is not a hard drive issue as i have already changed this for a new one and it still does it, it also doesn't seem to be from the ram as i have had this checked too. any assistance in locating the answer to this problem is appreciated. edited to add: it comes out of the tower, not the speakers

its not factory installed and never had a problem before. it always beeped twice when it was unlocked and beep once when it was locked. the beep sound is not the horn tho. help! why did it stop beeping?? wow, are there any intelligent people who knows anything about cars?? if u dont then dont answer stupid

Car alarm will not disarm. I had a new battery installed in the remote and still will not disarm. I can get in the car but the alarm sounds and the car will still not start with the ignition key. The symptoms lead me to believe the brain on the alarm system has failed. It is an older alarm on an old car (95 Camry) so I would like to just bypass the system....no need to keep a functioning alarm on a car of this age. Any suggestions on how to get the car back running?

After disconnect the main battery fuse for about 5 to 10 mins, then I put back the fuse (this was done without key in Ignition switch), the car sounds alarm immediately for about 10 sec then goes off. This time I can not start my car, it seems the "charging system indicator" is on when I try to start the car. Another bad thing is the car will sound a loud alarm for 10 sec everything I open the door. Expert please help me.

I am looking for a car alarm with remote start, that I can install myself. After talking with the sales person at Best Buy, and having the price of the alarm plus installation nearly double on me (I have an older vehicle that does not require any by-pass modules). I don't feel like spending $380 to have a $180 alarm installed. I also have a lot of experience in installing components such as stereos and amplifiers. However most alarm manufacturers will not warrant their product if not installed by a certified installer. The Alert alarm is being sold pre-wired for the vehicle through http://www.autoalarmpro.com. Possible to install a car alarm in a backpack?

So I've been wishing a good backpack alarm that works like a car alarm existed, however after much searching I've come up empty handed. I saw a couple cheap ones that had poor reviews, but nothing like i'm looking for. I'd like to be able to just have a keychain remote, and when I set my backpack down, I can press the "arm" button, and have it be armed so that if someone bumps it, it will go off with a loud siren. once I get back to my backpack I can just hit the keychain to disarm it. Hopefully I can adjust the sensitivity so that the wind won't set it off. So I'm wondering if I can realistically install a cheap car alarm into a backpack. In particular, I think the biggest problem would be the battery issue, since I don't want to pack a whole car battery in my backpack. Is there any way to power the car alarm with a much smaller type of battery? If I did find a different battery that would work, wouldn't it just be a simple process of hooking up the brain, siren, and battery together? Will the motion sensor work in any orientation (like if its upside down, or on its side), or do they have to be pretty much level? Thanks. So far the first answer has provided some good insight, however what type of 12v battery would be good to use? I mean does it have to be a certain size, or have a certain amperage? Like I could make 12 volts just by hooking up 8 AA batteries in chain, but would that actually be enough for the alarm? I definetly don't like leaving valubles lying around at all, but sometimes its unavoidable. What if I'm rock climbing, I need to leave my extra gear on the ground while I climb. There are many many types of sports I do that require me to have some extra stuff on hand that I can't physically carry while I'm doing the sport itself, and can't pay attention to since I'm busy doing the sport. An alarm would draw the attention of by standers as well as me. If Car alarms go for as low as $50 on ebay, I'd gladly pay $50 to help protect my stuff.

I purchased a used 2003 Dodge Durango today and it did not come with a keypad for keyless entry..I was wondering how I can find out if it came stock with one or a alarm pad? I noticed when I start the truck a security light blinks on the instrument panel, I was assuming this was a security system and would love to be able to use it. I searched the VIN on the Dodge website but it returned no results,If anyone can tell me how to find out this information I would appreciate it.

How can I save up money for my first car?

I am 17 and unemployed its really hard to find a job. I am trying to save for a car but I don't know where to start. I get 660.00 a month of social security money from my fathers death. Its hard to save that because I have a lot of expenses especially since its my last year of high school (ex. cap and gown,photos,yearbook,military ball gown and possibly a prom gown) and also things like my cell phone bill and hair styles and so on. I really need help I want a decent car in the with a model that's no older than 1999 and for a good price. Please Help All advice will be accepted. ALso how much so I save per month?

I just recently bought a new car from an auto auction. The car comes as is. The car has a hornet security system in it. However the car did not come with a remote. I do have the owner's manual for the security system and it is still installed in the car. I purchased a new remote from the internet, not realizing how difficult it would be to figure out how to get it to coordinate . I searched the internet for answer, but i just didn't come across one. So does anyone know how i can configure my new remote to the car. It is the correct remote for the model of the security system, i just wondered if there was an online guide on how to. Filho is accused of falsely obtaining a Florida drivers license, and listing Georgia as his place of birth when he got a job with U.S. Security Associates, a security contractor based in Jacksonville. He is also accused of stealing two St. Johns County Sheriffs Deputy badges, and a .22 caliber pistol. Rubin says Filho was arrested Tuesday morning at the port's Blount Island terminal by Jacksonville police and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers. "I just want to point out the situation worked as it should, and the individual in question was on the premises on very few occasions" said Rubin. hit a car at a parking lot?

today at school i pulled into a tight spot and hit the car on the right side of my car and there was someone sitting in the car in the left side. i am a new driver and i sat there and hopefully waited that the owner would show up but never did. the person next to me got up and left there car. when i got out of my car to look at the damage i saw that my car's paint(which is white) scraped off and the other car had my paint on it it already was taped up from a previous incident. the car was black and it already was covered in white marks all over the car not just where i scraped it. the black car didn't seem to have any new harm done on it. i decided to leave and go to class and i spoke to one of my friends about the incident she told me to go back and leave a note with your contact information. when i went back to do that the car was gone and i was going to report it to the security office but my Friend told me to leave because if the person drove off and then they pro bally didn't notice anything new. but i still feel guilty about not leaving my information. Even if there car was not damaged i still feel bad

How to bypass or change security system on a 2002 Ford Explorer ignition system.?

2002 explorer I have changed out the steering column and now the thing wont start. I tracked it down to the security system on the key ignition. It came with a new key in it. The car is still coded to the old one. What can I do. for now I have taken the old key and attached it to the old security ring. I connected it to the plug under the ignition and it will now start with the new key in the tumbler. Not the best fix, but how do I remedy this.

2003 Pontiac Grand Am, what's wrong with my door locks and security system (LONG and WEIRD)?

I have an intermittent problem that seems to happen when the weather is wet and/or cold. My automatic door locks, which are supposed to lock when I put the car in gear, will not lock on their own. Nor will they lock when I hit the autolock button inside the car, on either side. I can get the doors to lock if I hold the autolock button down for several seconds, or if I use the remote "key fob" button. Of course, I can always lock the doors manually, the old fashioned way. At the same time, the dome light won't turn off after I've gotten into the car as it should, unless I switch it off. It also will not turn off when I park, and it will turn on all by itself at random when I drive-- especially when I either slow down/stop or accelerate. If I stay at a steady speed, the dome light stays off most of the time. Also, if I park with the engine off but using only the accessories like my radio, the doorbell dings as if the door were open, even if the doors are locked, and the dome light comes on. In other words, I can't park and listen to the radio without the bell dinging unless I have the key to the ON position (one slot before I actually start the car). It's as if the car thinks I have left a door open-- but no doors are open at all. On top of this, when these problems happen, I can't set the factory alarm. In other words, when I push the LOCK button on the key fob or lock the doors using the electric lock button, the alarm doesn't set or give the short beep to let me know that the alarm or security is set when I push the LOCK button on the key or the door panel. Thing is, this problem seems to happen when the weather is cold and damp. It clears up for a while when the weather is warm and/or dry. It also sometimes clears up and the doors lock all by themselves and the dome light stays off as it should (or doesn't just turn itself on) after I drive for a long while with my heater on, like I would when it's cold out. As I said, it's as if the car thinks that a door is open but really, all the doors are firmly closed and even manually locked... but it still happens. I'm thinking that I have a bad "door latch" or something, but dadgum if I can find it. The fact that the problem occurs mostly when the weather is damp makes me think that a switch or something is dirty or fouled up with crud and is sticking "open"-- but what? Money is tight, so if I can make a cheap and simple fix or clean-up myself-- great. Otherwise, I can lock the doors with the key fob or door switch when I park it (no door switch when I'm driving, only when parked) and make sure the dome light is all the way in the OFF position when I park, or else it won't shut off. So WTF is going on with this crazy car?? BTW, this is a 2003 Grand Am SE with about 143,000 miles and no warranty remaining. Also, everything works just fine when the weather is good and dry (not necessarily warm). The problem also clears up spontaneously for a while, but it always happens again at a later time.

What to do if your car is stolen?

My car was stolen outside of the Village Mall in Orange County yesterday 2-4-10, I put a police report in and talked to the mall security but they said they can't do anything, and it was just outside Wal-Mart so I talked to them about getting the security tapes but they said only the police can come and look at them. The car is a 1992 Jeep Wrangler, lifted with big tires... and inside it had my computer, rosetta stone, all my cds(75) and dvds (10), and a video ipod. But the main thing is is this has been in my family for so long. And I had liability only for the insurance so I know I'm f*cked with that... but does anyone have any suggestions and ideas whatsoever to do about this?!!? Thank you for any response. : (

Here's the deal..I don't know anything about car alarms etc. I'm trying to sell a car alarm on craigslist, but I'm not sure what a fair price would be. It is a CLIFFORD CONCEPT 470. Still in box, never used, it's just been sitting in my closet collecting dust. It still has the owner's guide and installation guide..the remotes and everything...still in tact. HOW MUCH SHOULD I SELL IT FOR?/ WHAT IS IT WORTH? FYI...in case you're wondering why/how I have it... A while ago I'd gotten the same alarm installed in my previous car($500 total.$300 for the alarm.$200 for the installation). -Almost 2 months later, I'd purchased a new car.... -soooo they uninstalled the alarm and held on to it until I was ready to pay $200 more to get it installed in my new car -I never got in installed in my new car. In the meantime...the shop that was holding on to my alarm needed to use it because they ran out of stock on that particular alarm. -They called me to let me know, and they just ordered me a new alarm system all in the box. -I went and picked it up, but never made use of it.

I have a hyundai tiburon 2003. I would like to know if the car alarm is going off, will the car NOT start? Im just asking for reassurance cuz I think this is what happened today. The keyless remote battery went dead, so I used to the key to get into the car. Mustve done something wrong, cause the car alarm went off. I got in the car, put the key in the ignition ( car alarm going off and all) and turned. NOTHING HAPPENED. I stood around calling for help for 45 minutes. Bought jumper cables that I knew i didn't need. Solution: Once you put the car in gear, it was a manual tranny, everything started up. IS this suppose to happen?

My car alarm has gone off several times today, for seemingly no reason at all. I have a keyless remote, and have been able to "shut it up" with that.....but it's rather odd for it to just go off this often (3 times today). I can't think of any reasons it'd be happening - it's cold out today, very windy at times.....? The car was unlocked and locked with the remote the first time it went off, then I manually unlocked and locked the car with the key the latter 2 times. Is this perhaps a keyless remote issue (low battery, or malfunction), some exterior influence affecting the car.....or something wrong in the car?

This sounds crazy, BUT...there is someone in my apartment complex who has a car parked right outside my bedroom window. While the car is running, you can hear a noise coming from it. I can hear it from my bedroom and at first thought it was an alarm clock. Then I realized it's coming from the car. It's multi beeping and different tones, like an alarm clock...but the sounds are exactly like a duck call that hunters use! PLEASE, does anyone know what this is? This goes off at 1 am almost every night, I haven't had a good night's sleep in months. Again, the car is on and running while the sound is going off. I want to have some idea of what it is before I call the police station and file a noise complaint...don't want to sound like a crazy person! Well, there's no one ever in the car at this time. At first I thought maybe the person works nights and is warming the car up (lovely winter in Iowa) before they leave. But the more often it happens it seems like it's automatic...like a remote start set to turn on at a certain time, but I don't even know if such a thing exists! lol Don't know much about all the toys that are out there..

Why won't my automatic starter work?

For Valentine's Day a few years ago my husband brought me an automatic starter for my 2002 Rodeo from ebay. Right after it was installed I had problems (couldn't unlock car and when I did the alarm would go off as I drove down the street, and I could not lock the doors while I was driving...) I took it back to the guy who put the alarm in and he fixed it. Well a short time after that (a few months later) I had to change the battery in my car and the auto starter wouldn't work. I took it back and he said that it is the alarm, I tried to explain to the guy that the alarm works when it wants to and I feel it is the bypass (my husband had to get 2 bypasses for his to work) but the guy said it is not the bypass even though if I try to use the starter the manufacturers alarm will still work (sometimes they will both work at the same time, sometimes only the starter will work and it won't work right so I have to unhook my battery to reset everything and that only works sometimes). And it can be a headache because until I figure out how to shut it off the alarm is going off THE WHOLE TIME...So I have given up on the starter all together. But since the winter has come...I want my starter back but I don't know if I need a whole new system (is the guy just trying to get money out of me since I didn't get the system from him) or do I just need an additional bypass? I would contact the person I got it from on ebay but it was so long ago it is not on my history anymore.

.I had a dream last night. I was in the living room. I looked and my front door was closed but unlocked. Two men wanted to come in. I knew them in my dream but was kind of nervous as I just wasn't sure what they wanted to do in the house. As they were messing with the window, I looked at my alarm system and a name popped up (rich or something) then he told me through the two-way that he was going to be there to help me and guard me. He came. I looked in my garage and the two guys were in there and they had flipped my car upside down.... What does that mean. I know it has to mean something =( Thank you so very much!!! 1999 honda accord power door locks?

i bought my car 3 years ago with a power lock system without an alarm, and added a professionally installed viper alarm for key less entry. When i unlock the doors from the remote, or from the inside lock switch majority of the time they will all go up, but if i press the lock immediately or shortly after, only one will go down. (only the driver side front door) the passenger side will go neither up or down ever. it sounds like they re's enough juice to push them up, but then not enough to pull them down. what is the problem?

It is a Chrysler Neon 2000. When I'm driving, the inside lights come on and off. The automatic locks unlock and lock repeatedly. Also, when I lock it, I'll come back to see the panic alarm going off.

viper alarm problem doors wont lock?

I just bought a car with a viper with a remote start. i dont know what model it is but when i try to set the alarm it beeps 2 times and shows a door open on the remote when the door is closed. when i manually look the doors and hit the unlock button it will not open only when i start the car by the remote it unlocks the doors. does anyone have any knowledge of this problem Thanks!

Jumper cable sparks when I try to jump my car car battery?

I did exactly like the instructions say: positive-positive on dead battery, positive-positive on good battery, negative-negative on good, but when I tried to ground the negative on the engine block of the dead car, it sparked and triggered my alarm to go off. it does this every time I try to ground the negative. Clearly current is passing into the dead battery or else the alarm couldn't go off, but I am afraid that the sparks might be dangerous/a bad sign. More details: I don't know why the battery died, but my lights weren't on, so I suspect that the alarm might have been triggered and ran down my battery. it is raining, but it is fairly dry under the hood The dead battery is <2 years old I have not attempted to start either engine yet.

1999 Audi A4 alarm system problem.?

I have a 1999 Audi A4 2.8L V6 and something is wrong with my alarm system: 1. when i press the unlock/lock bottons on my key, lights blink on my car but doors do NOT open/close (i have to open the drivers door with my key and then from inside open the other doors manually because even when i press the lock/unlock buttons from inside the car on the drivers door, nothing happens). 2. when i close the doors with my key manually, it looks like the alarm system turns on because the red lights on my doors start blinking Could someone please advise what the problem could be? Someone told me it could be the vacuum that opens the doors, does that make sense? I only want to take the car to a dealership as last option if i can't figure out what the problem is because they charge too much. Thanks!

My mother just called me - the car stalled out during a windy snow storm. It has always stalled out when it rains or when we go through the car wash. We have never known why. Anyways, if anyone can give me any help on HOW to get it started, that would be awesome. The alarm is somehow going off too, anytime she tries to start it, the alarm will go off. It's a 1997 VW Jetta. What's wrong with our car? The check engine light has been on for ages now. It went away a few months ago, but came back on not too long ago. We've never had the money to get it fixed, plus parts up here are hard to find or more expensive (alaska). we just have avoided not driving in snow or rain, hah.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Alarm Randomly Goes Off?

I just bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (no warranty), and I'm having issues with the alarm going off randomly. Sometimes it's during the day, sometimes it's in the middle of the night, sometimes it's outside, sometimes it's when it's in the heated garage, sometimes it's when I use the wireless remote to open the doors (not the panic button)... it's just very random, and I can't tell what's causing it. Also, when I use the wireless remote to unlock the doors, the horn will sometimes blow really loud like the alarm is about to go off, but it's just one honk. When I lock the car with the wireless remote, it's not nearly that loud. Any ideas what is causing this and how I can fix it (without just disabling the alarm)? Thanks!

VW Golf Alarm wont shut off after diconnecting battery?

I hooked up a stereo todat and i disconected the battery first. when i went to hook the battery back up the alarm went off. It goes off tfor about 30 seconds and then shuts off but when i go to start my car it goes off again. I read tons of formums and cant find the right answer. I used my key to manually lock and unlock and still wont work. I have a keyless entry but i think it may be broken. I changed the battery on it and still dont work but im not sure if its just not working cause my alram is messed up. im trying to avoid paying tons of money to get this fixed or having to buy a new keyless entry. i have a kenwood kac-x520 amp it pushes 500watts at 4-ohms bridged what kind of sub should i buy? I've been looking at Cerwin Vega V-max, Alpine Type-R, and JL Audio W3. Which would sub we be loud and still sound good. I'd like to set off car alarms if I want to but sound quality is important. Also I drive a Ford Ranger ext cab just fyi. Why is the check engine light on in my VW Beetle?

I have a 1999 VW Beetle 2.0 and we recently had the oil and filters changed about 2 weeks ago and was running fine. I hadnt used it for maybe a week or so it was just parked in my driveway and when i was going to use it , it wouldn't start. We took the battery to get recharged and it started fine. But it didn't make the alarm beeps it makes when you set the alarm and the car feels different when you drive it. The check engine light came on after my second use of it with the recharged battery and the new weird feeling when you drive it. Is it the oil change or the battery that caused the check engine light to come on? oh and my hood was open when i drove it and the check engine light came on....i didn't notice it was slightly open not closed completely like it normally is. Where should i take it to have the light checked out? so yesterday the light turned off......is that normal or should i still take it to get checked out?

my power windows and locks only work whenever i hear a clicking sound coming from behind the brake release panel. my friend who installs aftermarket alarms for 10yrs+ tried to troubleshoot the problem and was lead to disconnecting the control assy smart entrance (part#28596 7b001) loacted behind the speedometer just to get he part#, but after reconnecting it i started getting additional problems. eg; 1) beeping sound occurs while door is open without key in the ignition. 2) when activating alarm signal lights used to blink indicating activated and horn used to honk not any longer. a/c button is on even when its in off posiition except when control button is in other position other the a/c.(if you dont understand just ask me what i mean???) this is original alarm.the auto starter is working. i was avdised to change the battery because it could be a low voltage. battery is 3 years old discoonnected battery terminals while car running and a/c on blast. works fine. i do have white powered constantly accumilating on the positive batery terminal. how do you get rid of that? the milage is 127k, timing belt changed at 120k, tie rods changed, just needs new shocks. you could email me at naci9726@juno.com or call me 9178260705.. A month ago I was in a car accident and until yesterday I had been waiting to get my car back from getting fixted at the auto shop, but when u got my car I checked to see if things were working before I left but didn't check everything I guess...I realized my hork doesn't beep. Also on my remote control when I open and lock the doors it works but doesn't make sound anymore. And when I make the alarm go off it makes no noise. Are these all different problems or is it possible for it to be associated with one thing? I'm going to take it back later today but the reason I ask is because I wanna know if they r gunna have to order parts and keep the car again and all that annoying stuff or if it can even possible be a quick fix fuse??? Car Alarm for 06 Jeep..HELP!?

Hey guys, I just bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty. It does not have a alarm on it, it has the key less entry with a panic button on it, but no actual alarm. The guy at the dealership told me that if somewhere were to get in to it without a key and try to steal it it would shut off in 10 to 20 seconds because it has no key code that connects. Does that sound right? My other question is, what if they hot wire it..will it do the same thing? I really want to put a alarm system on it, but everyone is telling me not to, because it all ready has security & I can screw up my electoral in it. I do not know what to do. Suggestions? What is wrong with my aftermarket remote start?

I've been having problems with it for about 6 months, where 50% of the time the factory alarm would go off when the engine started. I thought maybe it was the battery or the remote, so I changed the batteries in both remotes and now I can only unlock the doors and the engine will not start at all with either remote. Also, my headlights used to flash when the doors would unlock or engine start, but now they won't even flash when the doors unlock. My car is a 2002 Grand Prix and the aftermarket remote says 'Prestige' on it. It was installed by a local radio/remote start installer, but they have since moved their business an hour away so I can't take it in to get checked out. I've called a couple places in the area and they won't "repair" the starter. My friend got the same system installed on his car at the same time and isn't having any problems with his. Any ideas???

Why does my car stereo smoke when plugged in?

I recently had a new car stereo and alarm professionally installed Due to a break-in. However, whenever the stereo is plugged in to the harness it starts smoking and no-one knows why. Also note that the panic button doesnt work on the alarm I had installed. I'm taking it back so the installers can work on it, but when I initially took it in they had no clue what was causing the trouble. Also, it rained the day after they smashed my window and the rain caused damage to one of my front speakers. Is this a related problem? Thanks They also tried 5 different stereos, and ruined ever single one, so it wasnt a defective unit. The stereo has been unplugged since Friday, when I had it installed. First they thought it was an illumination switch, but after they fried another stereo after unplugging the switch they think that it's the speaker causing backfeed. Could this be right?? there's no more moisture in the vehicle because they already took all the panels off to check on Friday. Is it possible that somehow they crossed the stereo and alarm wires??

I noticed that after switching car alarm mode from valet to normal, passenger side power rear view mirrow stopped moving up and down. I talked to the Toyota dealer - he said that the problem is with car alarm. I talked to the car alarm installer, he said that car alarm does not connect to power mirrors, therefore cannot affect them, and suggested go to the Toyota dealer again... Car alarm warranty expired few year ago. Car - Toyota Sienna 1999. Car Alarm - aftermarket Automate model. I suspect the problem is with wiring or connectors, but do not know how to find and fix it. Appreciate your input how to solve this problem.

I had my Viper alarm installed in my car.. a couple months later, I was unlocking my car using the Viper remote, and my OEM alarm went off. I called the installers to see wassup and the guy told me how to turn it off and that something in my "purse must've triggered the wrong alarm." OK, I had a problem and arguement with the place that I had my alarm installed, and I got a feelin they must've screwed up my car on purpose (they even did a lousy job with the wiring and putting back my interior car parts). Are you even supposed to HAVE two alarms in your car, my Viper AND OEM? My friend said they were supposed to take out my OEM...

I bought a certified preowned 05 Accord 2 months ago yesterday. Along with the preowned certification, I also paid for the Honda Care extra coverage. The car has an aftermarket alarm, aftermarket headlights and a body kit. I bought a radio and had it professionally installed. The installer told me that whoever had it before had already run the cabling for an amp and replaced the speakers, so I was like cool. 3 out of the last 5 mornings and the batery wouldn't start. I tested the battery and the battery is fine, so I brought it to the dealer. My question is if any of the problems are a result of the aftermarket equipment, will I be covered? Should I raise hell with the dealer? I tested the battery, and that was fine. I was thinking the alternator as well, however my concern is if the dealer says that it is the alternator or another electrical issue, they will say that it isn't covered because the aftermarket parts contributed to the problem. When I would try to start the car, it would sometimes click, and sometimes do nothing. The second time it happened, the battery was so dead that the power locks didn't work. Hope that's a little bit more clear Turns out the alarm was "parasitic". It was drawing excessive power. When they disconnected it, no more power draws above normal with a full start or in acc I took it up with the salesman, not service, because I know they have no control over what a salesman told me, they just know it's broken and they figure out why and charge what they're told. It just angered me because it was "honda certified preowned" and this should have been detected during certification process, as electrical, alternator and battery are included. Also, this is the second time i've been there for an issue that should have been caught through certification. The first time was 2 days after I bought it and it was bad brake pads. In the end the issue was fixed, I now have the factory alarm, and although they tried to charge me, with persistence with my salesman (who is now a manager) I was able to get the fee waved, and a full electric checkup. Does this sound like my GEM Module on my Ford Expedition needs replacing?

I recently had a car audio system installed as well as a car alarm with remote start. Now whenever my key is out of the ignition, and I open any door, the chime chimes as if my key is still in the ignition; I am also able to roll down any window with the door open, as if the system thinks the key is in and the accessory is turned on. After 3 weeks, my brand new car battery died and I needed a jump; I took it back to the installer and long story short, after unhooking everything, he said that there is a .5 constant amp draw from the battery. The installer has said that with that amount of draw that there is something definitely pulling power that after a while will kill your battery. He also advised that it sounds like my GEM Module may be going out and that I may need to go to Ford and have it checked out. But after reading posts on Google and such, I have never had a leak from my windshield and my gauges always work. Any suggestions or hints as to what may be wrong?? I called Ford and they want $100 to diagnose the problem..

VIPER 791xv alarm question?? need help?

just got the viper 791xv installed at a local stereo shop. installer seemed to have trouble installing it took him over six hours. lock and unlock work fine but trunk release doesnt always work i have it set to the AUX button. Also the lock/unlock/trunk release on my dodge key also still works, shouldn't that have been disabled? Anyone noticed it seems to take a lot of force for the shock sensor to go off, i thought it would be much more sensitive, seems to favor one side of my car. I trust the installer but dont think he was familiar with model. Any ideas? programmed wrong?

I just had a remote entry system installed in my 2001 Caravan and it won't work unless I'm about four feet from the driver's door. When I try to unlock the rear hatch, I have to go up near the front of the car before the doors unlock. If I have to get that close, I might as well go another few feet and put the key in the lock. I called the installer and they told me that remote entry systems aren't supposed to work at a distance, that's for alarm systems or remote start systems. This sounds like bull to me. Is it?

i have a 2003 nissan altima and somehow i think my prestige alarm is messed up & now it wont let me start my car, the installer told me to find the valet/override switch and flip the switch to override the alarm, but i dont know where it is hidden. anyone know where it could possibly be??? & btw my key wont get out of the ignition!

I recently got the Viper 5900 hooked up on my car and I dont think they did it right. I took a look yesterday and saw that the dual shock sensor is attatched to a thick bundle of wire. Im not a master installer but I would think that it should b attatched to the body, or frame (under the console). Another thing is the antenna. Its suppose to work for about a mile but some times Im standing right next to it and the signal wont get through. I was reading the manual and It said to put it in the top of the front or back windshield for the best reception. I think they installed it right next to the control module under the dash passenger side. Would this hurt the reception that bad. Please help me out cause I want to upgrade my car but with a recent theft, I want It hooked up right. Just thought i'd ask another installer. Oh one more thing. While driving yesterday I realized that my cruise control doesnt work since the alarm was hooked up. I need that. Is this something that I lose w/ getting this alarm or did they make a mistake. I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX and recently my car's alarm system stopped working. I can lock the car using my remote but it doesn't make any noise when doing so. It used to but now it stopped. The dashboard security light also stopped blinking. It now just lights up and stays lit. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I own a 2007 Honda civic. Part of the security feature causes the car to honk whenever I lock/unlock it with the key-less entry. I have become annoyed of it, as it is loud and attracts attention. Is there any way to disable the honking, or at least turn down the volume? Thank you

my friend has a wireless laptop in his car (he is in security) and lets say he has a document from a client on his wireless laptop, and I believe he has satellite internet, and he wants to send the document to the client for there records and instead of going through a phone line or something, is there software or is it possible to send the document from his laptop in his car to the clients fax machine? So basically he wants to send the document(s) from his wireless laptop in his car directly to the clients fax machine...possible? thx guys...huge help if someone could answer this.

I have a 2007 honda civic coupe I slept in my car for like 5-6 hours, I woke up, started the car and the alarm went off, I unlocked the car, got out, locked it, still didnt go off, hit the panic button, nothing happened, kept unlocking and locking and nothing happened, I started the car again and it didnt go off, I got out, locked the car, hit the panic button like 3 times, and it went off, why did this happen my key wasnt in the ignition also

My car alarm has been acting weird for a couple of months, when you [press the remote to set it on it won't do anything and if you keep pressing it the alarm ends up going off. Okay so when i cleaned my terminals hoping my car would turn over perfect all the time as i did it for that purpose i noticed that the alarm is working on and off. That's what happened till i started the car. It went to it's old condition again. I've also done this method times and was exact same results

i had the system for a year and a half and the siren would work and then not work but the doors still would lock, then the door wouldnt lock at all, but when you start the car the doors would lock and unlock but the remote will not respond to anything i press

I am getting a 1987 corvette with a t-top and i dont want nobody to even touch it. but i always have people walking around it so they must touch my car for it to go off.
