Help Please!!! ?

Today while i was driving, playing my music at a low volume, the music suddenly cut out and the speakers started whistling. i took the fuses out when i got home, they were fine, put them back in and started working fine again!!! the 30 mins later it stopped again, any ideas??? please help

I made a lot of singing videos of me i finally figured out how to get the cd to play in my car which was major,,,now it gets to the 6th track and there is wavy static real bad all the way to the end the other 5 songs...its ruined.the first 6 songs i sing are perfect.d then you know the rest

sony mex`2900 and bass tube ?

Hi all i am after some advice i have a sony mex`2900 xplode head unit with two rca outs on the back which is switchable sub or amp i also have a 6 inch bass tube non powerd which has ordinary seaker connections halford said i could cut the rca plugs off 1 end of cable join the two inner cores and connect to the + on the tube and join the two outer cores and connect to the - terminal and plug the other end into the head unit with the plugs which i have tried but get no sound from the tube any advice would be appriciated thanks paul

How loud can two 10's get?

I just finished having my system installed, but I'm a little skeptical that I am getting the full potential out of the setup because it isn't that much louder than my old setup, two rockford fosgate kickers 2's 250w rms on 1100w kenwood amp in a sealed box. The new setup is two Pioneer ts-w2502d4 800w rms with a hifonics 2100w rms amp in a ported box. The new setup is maybe 50% louder than the old one. The old one hit impressively hard for what it was. Is this to be expected or should my new setup being blowing the old one away?

i bought a car with a pioneer radio in. So it's supposed to play my ipod, when i plug it in to the usb port, the display says n/a usb. I looked it up online and it says i need a mass storage compliant device. Now where do I get that from. I have an IPOD shuffle just bought it recently. Please any help would be great Thanks

I have a good pioneer radio in my geo metro with great am reception. When I move it to my spare metro, am is poor so I bought a new antenna , its a little better but not much. fm, tape and cd play fine.Could there be some kind of short in a wire?

Why is my subwoofer playing when volume is off?

When i turn my system on it plays for a few seconds and then i start to hear the sub make a noise. It sounds like a constant really loud sound like it hits and then does not stop. It keeps playing even when i turn the volume all the way down to zero. It is making one continuous sound and does not stop until i turn the power on the deck off and then as soon as i turn the deck back on and turn the volume up it does it again... any one have any ideas ? thanks a lot

I have a 2009 Civic with a standard stereo (6 speakers, aux jack). The sound is ok, but I would like to improve the sound without having to replace the head unit. What would be the best way for me to get a good sound (I don't want to wake up the neighbors, but have it sound great inside the car), without having to replace too many things (i.e. head unit, speakers, etc). Sound suddenly very quiet and tinny ?

My stereo worked fine yesterday but when I got in my truck today all of a sudden the stereos become very quiet and tinny. And it seems the rear speakers don't work at all now, but if I adjust the balance left and right I still get sound from both left and right speakers. I've checked and replaced by stereo and amp fuses, and no change. Where should I be looking next?

Speaker/Amp problem?

My speakers sound fine when the motor is running but when I’m listening with the motor off the speakers sound “flat” or blown. This setup is on a boat and here is what I’ve got. The cable runs are 18’ of 8 gauge cable going into a JL Audio marine amp going into a set of bazooka tubes. They are both rated for 125 RMS. Does anyone know what I could do to troubleshoot this issue?

I was considering getting another system for my truck. I had 2 lanzar 10" and a blitz 1800 watt amp. I gt it when i didnt know much and it was alright for my first system. But now i want a better one and i was wanting to get the Boss 12" 2300 watt subs (P126 DVC) they are supposed to have 2300 watts max and 1150 RMS and im pretty sure those are the subs i want but now i need to find a good amp to power them and i would like suggestions on a good amp. please leave suggestions or information you might thank is helpful. Thank you and i was thinking of the lanzar vibe292 as an amp. any good?

volvo - FM stereo broadcast question ?

Hi - thanks for taking my question. pretty simple problem. 1) 1 week ago; FM stereo broadcasts were flawless - no problem 2) 5 days ago - volvo dealer replaced some rear tail light bulbs 3) car has automatic (electric up and down) radio antenna in rear of car (driver's side) 4) since above bulb replacement; when FM (stereo) stations are listened to, the "ST" indicator (indicating that broadcast is in stereo) flashes on and off (i.e. goes in and out) and there is a hissing, crackle sound each time it does this (it is pretty muchg constant. and annoying. this is for stations that worked perfectly 1 week ago. QUESTION : could it be possible that maybe the person replacing the bulbs accidentally bumped the antenna wire causing this problem ? or is it a weird coincidence ? thanks

I have a stock head unit in my 2008 Ford F150 Supercrew, I have a Sony Xplod 500W (XM-504Z) amp, I am going to get a subwoofer and enclosure that will fit under my back seat. I am thinking a single 10" or 8" should sound good. I was given a new Visonik 3-way electronic crossover w/ remote. Does this sound like a good setup? Do I even need the crossover? Any advice greatly appreciated!

i had my system put in for a thousand dollars and have had nothing but problems now i have practially rewired and went over everything they did and when the car is on theres a weird hum and when i rev the engine or excelerate it gets louder and when i move the switch to turn on my lights it gets louder and lighter when i put on my bliker you can hear it staticly in the speakers i have tried everything i can think of and i have no idea at this point

Im installing an all alpine system consisting of (2x mrp-m2000 amp's, 2x type-x 12" sub, pdx-f4 amp, 2x spx-17pro door speakers, boss 4farad battery cap, and a iva-w505 headunit)...the type x subs push 1500rms-3000 peak x 2=6k, plus each door speaker = (100rms-300peakea x 4 = 400/1200) = around 7.2k? Im guessing a car battery, What would i need to support this audio system no problem. Thanks

my question is about y splitters if they interfere with alpine imprint technology?

on my old deck i had only one set of preamp outputs with y splitters on my rca's running to my five channel amp. on my new alpine unit i have three sets of preamp outputs. my question is should i run three seperate rca's for the front, rear and sub or should i leave the y splitters in and just have one set of rca's to the sub and the other rca with the y splitter. to sum it all up i am getting ready to add pxa-h100 imprint technology to my alpine headunit and i wondered if the y splitter on the rca would hurt the measurement of the imprint processor, this is the reason i thought i should run a set of rca's to the front, rear, and subs, for the imprint processor, but if the y splitter would not hurt i would leave it how it is. i know this was probably confunsingk but what do you thing run three sets of rca's to the front, rear and sub or leave the splitter? remember i want to know what is best for the alpine imprint prcessor, and the overall sound in my truck? thanks alot for your help!!

factory car stereo comes on but no sound ?

I recently got a 1987 acura integra with factory stereo. The is a something under the passenger seat ( i am assuming its an amp) anyhow, the radio comes on (lights, i can change stations, am and fm as well.) There is no sound though. I see the little FM indicator light and it stays lit constantly so i know I have good reception. The only sound that I can hear is a slight pop if i turn the radio on and off repeatedly a few times, still no music though. Also the person i got the acura from says that they listened to some AM stations, but I cant hear any of those either. So any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Again I say that this is a FACTORY stereo and it has an equalizer and (assuming) an amp under the passenger seat.

I just bought a 2001 VW Jetta GLS off of a lady, she had a sony xplod deck put into it and I turned it on after i bought the car for some reason and the main 4 speakers are not putting out any sound, only the 4 little ones put out sound, i took it to best buy and the guy said the connection to the deck is all good? is there anything i should get cjecked, i need it fixed bad lol it sounds horrid!

i have a 2003 chevy impala, with the stock stereo. In the last couple months the stereo would randomly not put out any sound, it would show it being on, change radio stations, and say it was playing when i put in a cd, but i would get no sound. It would randomly come back on eventually. But the last few weeks the sound has been gone, and not come back. Would getting a new stereo fix this, or would i spend the money and still have no sound?

Pioneer DEH-P5800MP In-Dash CD/MP3/WMA/WAV Receiver problem ?

When I make a disk of music (MP3s and WMAs, usually) using a program like Windows Media Player, I can fit scores of songs on the disk. However, the unit will only play 20 or 30 of them. When I look at the folders the player is recognizing, some of them will have the songs in them, but most of them will show "no files found." If I put the disk in a computer, it confirms that all the files are there. There seems to be no consistent basis for the songs that are excluded--that is, it doesn't matter if they are in a particular format, or a different bit rate, or a file that has subfolders, or that kind of stuff. When I simply drag-and-drop files onto a disk, then close the session, I get a disk the player can't play at all (Error 23). How can I put 8 hours worth of music on a CD and get more than an hour and a half of music to play while I'm on the road?

Amp cuts out Help !!! ?

I have a Pioneer head unit connected by way of RCA cables to a Pyramid 1200 watt peak amp which drives two 1200 watt peak 12 inch subs. Power is run direct to the amp from the battery using number 4 copper wire. I have a 1.5 farad capacitor. Problem is that at a power level greater than half the amp shuts off after a short while. Have to turn off hear unit to turn on amp. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance Dave

1) Is it necessary to use a capacitor? 2) Do I need to link the cap to both amplifiers or just the active subwoofer with built in amplifier? 3) What happen when I install a higher capacitor rate i.e. 2 farad cap to the active subwoofer? Will it make any changes? 4) I'm using a 6 gauge wiring kit, is it safe? Some article suggests that the thicker the wire the better the current flows. 5) How to make the system sounds good to our ears? Is it really how we tune the system? Is it necessary to add a pre-amp? Do high quality and expensive systems could produce that kind of sound that people always wanted?

How can you tell if a car audio capacitor is bad?

Car audio system - 2 550 watt amplifiers, 2 10" subs, 2 250 watt 6x9s, 1 .5 farad capacitor, upgraded battery and alternator. After installing the capacitor according to the manufacturer's wiring diagram, I find that the car battery is draining while parked with the system turned off. The amps are powering off, the only apparent cause is the recently added capacitor. After removing the cap from the system, the battery drain appears to have stopped. Is this normal for a capacitor to drain the battery under these conditions, or could it be malfunctioning?

OK so my car audio system has been working fine for months. I have installed a kenwood cd player, 1000 watt kenwood amp, 3 10" kicker subs and a 1.2 farad tsunami capacitor. and all of a sudden yesterday my capacitor just stops working. i look on the read out and its barely putting out .1 of a volt. ive tryed a few things but the voltage keeps dropping. i dont know if i should buy a new one or if there is a way to fix this or recharge it correctly? please help

Are there any differences as far as charge/discharge rates? Does it make sense to purchase a rockford fosgate capacitor for $100 opposed to a power acoustik 1 farad capacitor for $35? I'm speaking with emphasis on utility opposed to aesthetics. Both capacitors in my example are 1 farad by the way.

My dad just purchased me a 2007 civic lx sedan. It's a nice little reliable car, but came with the stripped down audio package with only four cheap speakers. I do not need a system that is the best or has alot of base. I was hoping for suggestions of products/packages and places to go (best buy, circuit city, tweeter). I'm not looking to spend alot of money maybe 200-250, but just want a better sounding system and need it professionaly installed so my dad doesn't kill me. It is not clear which size speakers I should get and if I should leave the 4 stock speakers in there and just put two new ones. If anyone can put together a little package that is compatible with the car and I can have installed at one of those places that would be great. I don't want to upgrade the receiver stereo part because it already has mp3/cd/ipod input and doesn't look like it is supposed to be change. What about amps/subs? Even information on the layout of the speakers and which ones should be replaced Thanks maybe I would spend a little more if necessary

This is my sound system layout:: Sony XPLOD head unit Kicker VS12V5 subwoofer [[600 watt RMS, 1200 watt peak]] Kicker zx750.1 amplifier 4X Polk Audio db651 6.5" coaxial speakers As you can imagine, it can go pretty damn loud. I live in NC, and I was wondering if you can get in trouble with the police if you play music too loud. I've heard of Disturbing the Peace, but is that just in residential areas? Can the police pull you over for playing it too loudly? Also, what are the consequences [[fines, etc.]]? Any help is much appreciated :) thanks for your help everyone!!

I'm getting the 13w7 JL Audio driver and the company sells the perfect built-to-spec car enclosure specifically for the driver. However the enclosure is for a car and I want the whole setup in my bedroom. Can I use the car sub enclosure in a house or must I really use an enclosure designed for home use? Keep in mind that I'm NOT asking if the driver will work in the box. I'm asking if the CAR ENCLOSURE works in a HOUSE.

How do I connect my laptop to my TV with a HDMI lead?

I have a Sony Bravia TV with 2 HDMI interfaces and a Sony VGN-AR61M laptop with 1 HDMI interface. I want to watch DVD's on my TV using my laptop. I purchased a HDMI lead and hooked them both up but t=the TV says PC No Sync. I have connected my laptop to TV using VGA and audio leads previously which was successful. When I search for HDMI devices it says that none are found. It says here: http://www.geekwithlaptop.com/how-to-connect-laptop-to-tv "TV’s with a single digital port labeled HDMI/DVI require only one cable when the source is another HDMI component. But when source is a DVI laptop, you need a DVI-to-HDMI cable for the video and a separate pair of RCA analog stereo cables". How can I find out if my laptop is a DVI laptop? Surely a Sony laptop with a HDMI interface can connect to a Sony HDTV with a HDMI interface? Perhaps not? When I purchased my Vaio Laptop I was excited that it had a BLU ray player installed. When I tried to play a BLU ray disc it would not work. I had to trail the internet to discover that Sony never intended it to be used to watch BLU ray movies die to copyright laws. Apparently it will only play BLU ray video that has been recorded on a video recorder and NOT a hollywood movie! To me that's like Lamborghini producing a car and boasting that they have the best tyres fitted in the world and the best tyres that have ever been designed and developed for a car. Then when you buy the Lambhorgini you read the small print and it says their tyes are the best but only whilst driven in 6 - 8 mm of snow and between temperatures of 0 - 0.8 degrees C! Ok rant over. well not quite. I paid over £850.00 for my laptop and thge hard drive died after less than 2 years but Sony wanted £370.00 to fit a new one. Hope you can help. ok so its not rocket science that if you re-read your question and decide to be a nice guy and correct the typo's only to find out that you can't. Niceone Yahoo.

Jobs for mechanical engineer not having to do with engines?

I'm currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Before college even started I had chosen it without even knowing what exactly it is that they do. I was good at math and science so I chose an engineering major, and I was told that mechanical was the broadest of all of them. After 2 and a half years of schooling, I've tried to be open to everything, but I really can't see myself working on cars or power plants for the rest of my life without feeling incredibly uninterested. My question is obviously "what kind of other jobs are available to me?" I was thinking, maybe something to do with audio equipment or maybe designing basketball shoes, but I'm not sure if they incorporate enough mechanical engineering principles. Is it possible to get jobs like that with an ME degree? What other types of jobs are there?

First I want to say Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help me with this. I don't really understand car audio too well, so I am having a professional company online build my box for me. I hear the box is crucial to getting good bass from your system. I want to make sure I get the correct box with the right specs...since I just paid a lot of money for my sub, and it's a very high quality sub I hear...so I would hate to see it go to waste. Here are the specs given by the company (Treo) for my particular 12 inch sub (and I only have one sub) Ported- 2.25 cu ft net, 35 sq ft vent, 18.5" long, F3=31.8Hz --Now when I went to fill this info out on the custom box website, they never had anywhere for me to put in the 18.5 inches long for the port. subwoofer not working in my car. first time hookup and still no sound?

i have a 1800 watt kenwood class d mono block amp, a jvc stereo system and a 1000 watt dual bandpass subwoofer. took it to the audio shop to get it hooked up. i was amazed at the sound but later found out that it was just the stock speakers i had in the car that was putting out the bass and not my subwoofer. the subs do not move or anything and on my amp is a red light that blinks every once in awhile. all of the wires are hooked up, I don't know what else would be causing the subs to not work. the audio shop said that the bandpass was to small and is designed more for a hatch back or a jeep, not my dodge intrepid and that I wouldn't get the sound that im looking for. but still no sound comes from the subs. any help would be much appreciated

Help me Design my Car audio system?

I was looking for somone to help me design my car audio. I have a basic design i belive, but i need help modifying it to the best i can get. I will have the names of everything in here, they can be found on Crutchfield.com under these names. Subs - Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 = I want these to play 18-200 Midbass - Kicker SSMB8 - Want these in kick pannels play 180 - 500 Door Speakers - Polk Audio db6500 - High end 480- 8000 for the woofer, and then 7980 - 20k for tweets. Back Speakers - Don't matter. Now i need Idea's for amps and cross-overs to get for the gear above, or any other suggestions on what to get for gear. I have the Infinity Ref. 611a for the subs. MTX Thunder 3404 - can't be found on crutchfield - for the 2 doors and 2 back speakers and i was thinking kicker ZX 300.1 for the midbass in the kick pannels. will this gear be able to meet my goals? or how to some of you people have your systems set up?

1994 Firebird Dream Audio System Design Question?

Hey! The car is a 1994 Pontiac Firebird. has 2 speakers in each of the front doors (don't know exact sizes, hopefully you do, or can look it up), and another 2 opposing speakers in the "back seat". There is also a small trunk space in back. Please design a dream audio system for me. Here are the specs that I want you to follow 1. Equipment budget should be around $1,000.00 USD 2. The car has to remain as close to original design as possible. (i.e. you should use the same speaker sizes in front and rear seats) 3. You may recommend whatever bass unit you want for the trunk space, but you should know that I listen mainly to jazz, rock and classical. (some huge hiphop monster bass whatsit would probably be wasted on me) 4. I want to be able to plug in USB thumbdrives instead of messing around with loading and changing CDs. 5. Should be easy to setup. I don't have the time or patience to spend 5 hours on setup and programming. What can you recommend?

Okay, I'm running 2 hifonics brutus 12 inch subs in a 3/4 inch thick slotted box. The subs are 600 watts rms a piece, and they have dual 4 ohm voice coils. I have the subs hooked up to a 2000 watt, 2 ohm stable, SPL phantom series amp. Which I have wired to 4 0hm mono. My head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB. (which has 4 volt preouts) I'm running 4 gauge wire for power, with 150 amp circuit breaker in place of the fuse and a cheap 1/2farad cap , 6 gauge for ground, and 16 gauge to the subs. Which is all hooked up in my '98 Chevy Blazer. My first question is, should i be running it at 4ohm mono, or should i rewire it to 2ohm stereo? Also I've heard of putting computer fans in your amp to help keep it cool, is it worth tearing my amp apart to do? My last question is, would i get a higher spl reading in my slotted box or a sealed box?

i know it's not a question but there will be some at the end i have a 1994 pontiac grand am se coupe and i want to upgrade my audio system that's in it i can't decide between alpine, rockford fosgate, and kicker for alpine i would get 2 4"x6" type-s speakers for the doors, 2 6"x9" type-r speakers for the rear deck, 2 12" type-r subwoofers, and MRP-M1000 or PDX-1.1000 for rockford fosgate i would get 2 4"x6" P1 speakers for the doors, 2 6"x9" P1 speakers for the rear deck, 2 12" P3 subwoofers, and P1000-1bd for kicker i would get 2 4"x6" KS460 speakers for the doors, 2 6"x9" KS690 or KS6930 speakers for the rear deck, 2 12" SoloClassic or SoloBaricL5 subwoofers, and ZX1000.1 which ever one i get i'm going to get an alpine headunit questions: what brand should i go with? where i have multiples with an "or" between them which one should i get (within the brand you picked)? what kind of subwoofer box should i use between ported or sealed? and what electrical upgrades would i need? thanks in advance

I need help concerning a car audio system and RCA cables.?

Ok so I have some experience in car audio. But right now I am stumped. I have 2 Kicker 15" L5's, hooked up to a 3000 Watt Cliff Designs Amp. I have the amp bridged and the subs (dual voice coil) also wired for 2ohm. This runs me at max amp output (1500 watts rms) to both subs...which are 750 rms a piece. So everything is maxed out. This setup had run fine for years and sounded good but lately something changed. I noticed that when I faded my equalizer on the head unit to the right I had subs, but to the left I didn't. To the best of my knowledge so far I have come to the conclusion that the LEFT RCA input on the amplifier has died. My question is what effect should this have on my sub woofers considering the way i have my subs wired. Because the left rca controls the left output on the amplifier correct? The left side of the amplifier is where I have the negatives hooked up for both subs. So if the right side of the amp was the only side working (the positives) should my subs work at all? Or am I just not even close on what my problem is here? Well it's cd860hc. Clif Design. Hard to find on the net though. I think it = was MA Audio that used to make them..or maybe still do.

I am wondering why one would want Dual batteries in a Car Audio Setup? Is this done so that when the audio system is on when the car engine is off it will have more current to give? From all the things I've read online, you need experience to get hired as a car audio installer, but I see no way to get that experience without working on systems of your own beforehand (which is out of the question, I don't have that kind of money). It also doesn't seem that difficult of a thing to pick up as you go, but where do you go to get started?

Can anyone suggest an audio setup for a compact car (Honda CIty 2003) with an alpine IVA-D105 head unit? My car is a small 4-door, 5-seater with interiors similar to the Honda Jazz/Fit. The biggest difference is that the City has got a trunk where as the Jazz/Fit is a hatchback. It does not have the space behind the back seats of a hatchback. Its just got that space behind the back seats and the rear wind shields, like other sedans have. My head unit is wasted on its stock 2 speakers found at the front doors. I prefer alpine as they are readily available where i live in. Fish, do you suggest to get the SPR-17C or to go spend some more to get SPR-17S?

i just got my first car, its an 03 4runner, so soon ill be looking to start building a car audio system. i dont want something thats crazy loud, i just listen to alot of rap so i like to bump it loud sometimes, but not extremely loud or anywhere near competing. i also dont want to sacrifice sound quality either. kind of half quality half loudness you know. i dont have a price range either, because i dont know what kind of money a system goes for, but im a kid so ofcourse im lookin for a good deal and not spendin too much cash when i get enough money, ill be looking at getting a headunit, subs, and the amp.. my question is does it make alot of a difference to buy speakers and the tweeters and that kind of stuff? i know for sure im buying the headunit, amp, and subs, but what else do you reccomend i buy? sorry im new to this. i appreciate all replies. i want a quality system btw also do you reccomend any brands for subs amps or speakers that are quality but with good prices. thanks sparky im sorry but i cant go through that whole page, do you think you could just help me out a little with an answer

im looking at headunits!!! as for RMS.. the sonys im looking at say 17X4 while some others say 20X4 or 22X4 is it really that big of a difference or no? Also for CD/MD signal to noise ratio the sonys show 120 while the others ones i look at show 94 or 98....is this a big difference and would it be better to go with 17X4 rms and 120 noise ratio? i probably will mostly use the head unit with my ipod finally, if im getting a sony subwoofer and amp is it good to get a sony head unit too or does it not matter?

Using equalizer and DSP software to encode MP3s for car audio?

I've been experimenting with equalizer software, specifically a couple of WinAmp plugins, one is OzoneMP by iZotope, another is Electri-Q by AiXcoustic. Can someone please find info to give me a crash course in using EQ software in general, these in particular, to reencode audio for a car audio system + subwoofer? For example, the Ozone plugin has various equalizer presets for frequencies, but it also has an array of settings to set the "room" size. How do I tailor this to the interior of my '96 Chevy Monte Carlo?! Evil Rondy do you have any suggestions on how best to do this? I have a laptop and I the plugins for WinAmp I describe have spectrum analysis along with equalizer capability. Do I need to play back a CD, and record that session, then play it through WinAmp on the laptop to see how the sound is affected in different areas of the car? Total newbie to this type of in-depth analysis so any additional details would be appreciated. :-)

When i had my 74 Nova i had a few amps that i wired directly to the fuse box. The only ones i see today for sale have to go thru the firewall and get connected to the car battery. I have a 500 RMS AMP with a 600 watt RMS speaker and I have a 6 or 8 gauge wire running to the AMP. I have a 1 farad cap installed and I have 2 small 12v 20 amp hour* batteries. I know what I am doing but I am wondering if it would be better to have a switch installed to turn the batteries on and off or If I should just hook them up so they turn on with the radio. *Amp hour means if it is 20 amp hour it can draw one amp for 20 hours or 20 amps for one hour. The batteries are gel cell batteries instead of liquid and they are about 1/4 the size of a normal car battery so I don't think they will draw too much from the alternator. I want to install them because I don't want my battery going dead when I am in parking lots

Im about to order a 5500 watt amp that puts out 3200 rms on 1ohm but I plan to run it on 4ohms at 1700 rms. I have already torched 2 amps with my speakers and don't wanna smoke another. I was trying to charge my cell phone in the cigarette lighter (never tried it before) and then the audio just shut off and the audio is not turning on and the cigratte charger isn't working either. After looking I found out that the cell phone has a higher voltage than supported by the car. Is this permanent or can it be fixed? If so how can I fix it? Thank you.

Help installing second car audio battery and alternator!!?

the thing is I have a stinger 800 power 2 battery dry cell bat. i have a stinger 200 amp relay my alternator can handle 150 amps thats all i could afford for a alt upgrade. The thing is I dont know if to install the extra battery in the back of my avalanche or install it in the front. All I have is a kicker 0 gauge kit plus .. I dont have alot of money to buy a tray kit and im not sure if I can afford more 0 gauge cable as I still have pay for the installer. I want to do the big 3 upgrade and was also thinking I was gonna need more 0 gauge cable for this as well. So what im really asking is if is more convenient and cost effective to install battery in the front and if my alternator is strong enough to handle a 2000 watts rms amp pushing 2000 watt rms combined subs. Im also gonna add a1 farad rockford digital cap for reinforcement. Any help is appreciated like always. okay you tell me not to add a cap ass it will add more load to the alt. but I have it and the digital read out might come handy I would think. So is it so bad if I add it will it make my system worse that actually improving it. So your telling me to add battery in the back run with 0 gauge wire from front batt to back batt with the 20 feet wire kicker kit comes with then use the 5 feet ground wire and ground it from the back battery to the truck?? leave the front battery grounded as is? fuse the line from two batterys?? and it would it make any difference to use the 0 gauge wiring left over from the 20 feet run for the big 3 upgrade or would 4 gauge work the same. Trust me I will have fun I checked out your website nice. Im going to push a 2000 watt memphis mojo at 2 ohm 2 15 inch kickers in a ported box imagine why I cant wait to get this ish hooked up.

I currently have a system that puts out around 500 RMS watts (2 Rockford Fosgate P2's) andi have it running off of a Mopar 60 series car battery and a 1 farad capacitor. I'm going to upgrade my car audio system and put in a system putting out around 1500 RMS watts. Will I have to upgrade my car battery along with my system? Or will a higher farad capacitor be fine? Help! My husband want three things for Christmas: the ability to listen to his ipod in his truck, the ability to listen to XM radio, and a GPS system. I think I've figured out that because of the age of his car, I would have to buy a new car stereo, an XM receiver and a separate GPS system (he wants this portable). That means he'd have three extra devices floating around his car at all times (the ipod, receiver and GPS). This seems annoying. How to eliminate alternator whine from passive crossovers ?

I've got alternator whine coming from my speakers when the stereo is switched off after recently installing a pair of passive crossovers. Would a noise filter attached to the head unit help with this, or would it be a case of moving the filters? Its a bit difficult moving them away from the power source because my car has a V12 engine and hence 2 large batteries in the boot, with power cable bunches as thick as my wrist, so I'd have to put them some where near the front seats and run loads of speaker wire through to the boot. It would be much easier for me if a noise filter would solve the problem! Note: there is NO amplifier in this system, just head unit, filters and speakers.

Someone help i got 3 CompVR dual voice coil 12" 4 ohm kickers they say 4 ohm i dont know if you can do 2 ohm and i also have 3 amps 2 are pro ax1000p rockford fosgate 500 x 1ch at 4 ohms or 1000 x 1ch at 2 0hms. the other amp is a rockford fosgate punch 800.2 - 200 x 2ch at 4 ohms or 400 x 2ch at 2 ohms and i Also have a none ported box for the speakers but dont know if it is right size also have 0 gage wire and 160 breaker fuse and 3 fared dig cap and a lightning audio 12 volt batt 960 amp. the pioneer has a 12 pin sqyare plug with 8 wires and che head unit in the chrysler voyager has a round plug with 8 pins holes..(cable has 8 pins).... apparently you can get a converter that would cost arround 80 quid ...

i have a capacitor attached into my audio system. here is a list of what I have. sony xplod amp 250 watt. the amp is turned up to half power. 1 sony xplod 10" subwoofer 800 watt. (it sounds fine even though there is a difference in wattage) 20 volt capacitor (not sure how many ohms) recently my capacitor started making clicking sounds. The lights from the digital cap also started flashing. I finally got it to stop clicking by unhooking it from the car battery. Anyway I can prevent this? or stop it in general

ok, so heres my long question. I got a new amp to match my subs and i hooked it up and it worked fine. then it went out. then everytime i turned the car on the light on the amp would turn on the immdeiately shut off. some one told me to check the fuses. everything was fine. then a guyat work told me to make sure there wasnt a cut in my wire and the have the actual wires exposed touching stuff. from what i can tell its all good. so i messed with the fuse holder by the battery and tried it and it worked. from what i can tell the only thing wrong is when the fuse holder is pointed down the amp shuts off. when its upright its fine. well clumsy me dropped the bottom half of the plastic cover for the fuse. so i just wrapped it up securely in electrical tape. im afraid this may cause a fire. does anyone have any info that could help me as far as why my amp is doing this or if it is unsafe to do what i did with my fuse holder?

I have a 1999 Grand Prix GT, 3.8 liter v6. I put my first sound system in about a yr ago(may be relevant if problem is electrical) I have since then upgraded to a system that is around 850 watts RMS, and I would like to go higher, but my car is wigging out. I have put in an optima yellow top battery and a 1 farad capacitor that the car audio shop claims should be plenty of power with the stock alternator. Anyways, on to the problem...The car lights started dimming with the music bass around two months ago. Shortly after it started having trouble idling, usually only in park. The rpms would suddenly drop, the car would start shaking, the lights would start dimming, and the rpms would shoot back up. Then, around three weeks ago the car battery started to die when I would simply use the remote lock or unlock. Most of the time it would start up after a little trying. Then I believe a wire in my box came loose and my speakers stopped playing. So I unplugged the fuse to the speakers so they are not putting any strain on the cars electrical system, and it still has the idling trouble. I have noticed if I fill up with an extra tank of premium it sometimes seems to help(could be coincidence) The car has around 130000 miles, and we keep the oil changed. Thanks for any help that you can provide! Thanks for all of the answers so far. I was leaning towards the alternator also, and actually hoping that was it, because I wanted to upgrade it anyways. I am thinking around 200 amps just for some reserve for future systems(will be at 1800 rms in a few months) and it probably wont stop there....I am a bass head....I am just a lil on the poor side so its taking a while to get there lol.

I recently bought 2 15 inch MA Audio subs for my car with a 1600 watt amp and alpine deck, all of which brand new except for the deck, my car battery has been fine before the installation and the battery would never die, now as my subs have been hooked up my battery dies every time i shut the car off, to my knowledge everything was hooked up right because the guy i had install it has done it plenty of other times, i have a kill switch for the battery, if i install this will this stop of is something else wrong???please help...thanks

Now this might not make sense but lets say i buy an alternator that has a 14.7 volt set point, and produces 200 amps. and a battery that is 12 volts, 81 Ah, and 1900 amps. It seems like the sentiment is "the higher the better" I have heard of people upping it to 16 or even 18 volts; maybe even 24; something to do with batteries in a series. So, if amps can run like this; and they even run better, why isn't that made more clear and attainable or why don't they just make them so 12 or 14 volts is the highest they want to run and they just take more amperage?

i just installed a second amp to power my subs. the lights did dim a little when the bass hit before, but now some songs turn my head lights into strobe lights, dimming to almost nothing. I checked out my options and i decided against a high output alternator because for an 07 grand prix it would run me over $250. Im not sure what im looking for in a capacitor. right now im running 2 KAC 7204 1000w peak amps 2 KFC W3012 1200w peak subs 2 Gauge wiring kit I'm trying to keep it under $100 but ideally I'd like to keep it in the $30-$40 range.

A couple years ago I bought 2 sets of Alpine Type S speakers 5x7, an Alpine CDA-9883 deck, and a 4 channel Alpine MRP-F250 amp for the speakers. A year later I bought a 12" Alpine Type R sub, with an Alpine MRP-M450 mono amp and a capacitor (I drive a 2006, 4 door, standard Ford Focus). Stupidly, I had Best Buy install all this equipment, and it has never sounded as good as I would have liked or expected. After showing the system to a new coworker who used to work at a small car electronics store, he checked the mono amp on the sub and told me it "was set to 0." I assume he was talking about gain. He also said that having seen the way Best Buy usually installs electronics the whole system is probably running inefficiently to the point where the 4 channel amp is probably not powering the speakers at all because of a wiring harness issue (or something like that). Anyway, if I go back to Best Buy to complain about their lousy job (and write a note to the Better Business Bureau) what kind of things should I call them on? What should the dials/gauges be set at and how should the wiring actually be set up? Whether intentional or not, they installed my 4 channel amp under the passenger seat with the knobs on the inside so I can't get at them. I don't want to shell out $500+ to get a real car audio place to reinstall everything but I don't have enough audio knowledge to go into Best Buy and call out their lies. My coworker has offered to do the work for me at the cost of parts, but I want it professionally done so everything can stay warrantied.

I've had my system (two 10" subs, new speakers, 1200w amp) for about a year, and all of a sudden the power in the deck and amp cuts out when I go past a certain volume (30/35), but comes right back on. I was told I need a capacitor, but then I went back to the same place and a different guy said it could be the wiring needing an upgrade to a 4 guage and won't be able to tell until after they install it (meaning pay to test it out) if I need a capacitor (pay for wiring upgrade + installation + capacitor + installation). He even said that the wiring and capacitor might not be the problem but I'd be paying for it all anyway if it didn't work. Any advice?

I drive a 97' ford contour, and I have a pretty big audio system in my trunk. I have a rockford fosgate P1000 amp, and two 12' alpine type R's, with a rockford capacitor. I got the subs wired down to 1 ohm. A few weeks ago my alternator went out, and im guessing it was the same alternator that was put in the car eleven years ago. Before my car died, i made it to advanced autoparts to get tested. First my car audio system shut off, then after a while my car stereo shut off, then soon my speedomiter wouldnt go up, and all the dashlights came on then shlowly dimmed away, and finally the car would harldy accelerate when i pushed on the gas. I hardly made it to advanced auto parts and left the car running. My capacitor didnt even read numbers, it said low. I unhooked all the power wires after that. We tested the alternator and the battery. He said both of them were shot. I told my dad that both were toast, and he said theres no way the battery can be broken. We took the old alternator out, and put a used one in. It ran great for about a week, so i hooked my subs up again. They ran great for a night, then day two came around and the battery light came on, but everything still ran strong. Day three was here, and my subwoofers and car stereo would shut off, then turn back on after about two seconds. Later in the day my car started to run bad, so i turned the car off, and it wouldnt start back up again. I had the car jumped, and started heading for home. After about three miles the car started to run bad again, and then shortly after, it just got to the point were it was so slow, and the wheels and breaks locked up, and died very shortly. Jumped the car one more time, and didnt last for more then a minute. I keep trying to tell my dad the battery is shot, like the guy at advanced said a few weeks ago. But my dad is determined that its the alternator, even though we just replaced it with the used alternator. So could it be the battery like the guy at advanced said? Or did this alternator go bad again? Or could it be a short or a fuse, or even bad fuel lines or fuel pump? I just have no clue what it could be, i havnt tested the battery or alternator today. Today is the day it kept dying. Let me know what you think. thanks alot

My 04 Corolla's stereo just randomly stopped working yesterday. It had been fine, no sound quality issues or problems with it malfunctioning before. I just got an in-dash cd player free from Kia, it has no wires or instructions with it. Is there any way for me to install it into my car (96 Saturn SL1) with minimal hassle? alright so the deal is i'm planing on adding some sub-woofers to my car. i found these 15" inch kicker subs Kicker Comp 07C154 15-Inch 4-Ohm Subwoofer there on Amazon. What kind of amp and box am i going to need to run this type of sub i plan on having 2 of them in my car. My other idea is putting 2 12" inch alpine subs Alpine Type-R Series SWR-1242D. Car audio problems for a Ford Escort 1999?

I have had my ipod connected to a cassette adapter in my car. All of a sudden one day it just starts ejecting the tape and it won't work anymore. I have heard that some cars come with this technonolgy where if it dosent detect any music on the tape it will eject it. I was wondering how do you fix this problem. I know about FM transmitters and also about getting an ajax and new radio stereo system and all that jazz. I'm just trying to see if I can fix this problem first before I have to go out and spend money. Thanks.

I'm about to buy a new deck for my camaro, and am trying to find speakers and such, but i'm unsure as to what they mean when they're "3-way" or "2-way" speakers, etc. I'm a noob when it comes to car audio, and I'm picking it up as I go. I know that I can fit 6.5" speakers in my car, but in regards to wattage, impedance, or anything like that, I'm lost. Any help would be awesome. If you could point me in the direction of any sort of explanation, that'd be great too. Cheers.

Will subwoofers improve the sound of my car's audio system?

Only modification to the audio system so far is a Kenwood eXcelon CD/MP3 reciever that cost me $200. I have a '99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. The sound system in it right now is stock. I listen to a wide range of music, but mostly rock, rap, pop, electronic, and some instrumental and vocal. My friend is selling his system that be bought a year ago for $250. It includes a capacitor, a 1000W Kenwood amp, and two Dual (the brand) 650W subwoofers. It includes all of the wiring and he is willing to install it for free. Now, I don't really want to drive around with my subs booming so the cops can hear me two blocks away. I just want higher quality sound coming from my audio system. Will subwoofers help? Also, do you think the system he is selling for $250 is a good deal?

I have an aftermarket head unit which I bought as well as a 4 channel 1000 watt amp. Now I figured that if I connect the amp to my 4 speakers and I swapped out the speakers for aftermarket ones, then there would be no need to add a subwoofer to my system. I don't want thumping bass. All I want is a smooth/rich bass that is for my enjoyment, not to irritate my whole block. Please help and thank you

OK whats up this a question for all my fellow bass heads out there alright ive had my current system for about 2 years now and im wanting to upgrade something, what i got: 2 06 15" kicker L7s hifonics bxi2006 (2000WRMS supposedly) check it out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lblqSzH4NL4 no electrical upgrades yet but coming soon alright right now i got 4guage power and ground, if i go and buy 2gauge will it make a significant difference as far as my output power from the amp? i know the amp will recieve more current because there is less resistance from the bigger cross section area, and might help out a little with the voltage drops, but just want to hear some opinions on people who have made the switch from 4 to 2. as in the difference, or should i just go with 1/0, but im not sure if that will even fit into my amp

I need to get is a 12" subwoofer, amp, and box that will fit in the back of an '08 Hyundai Tiburon.... with a golf bag in the back (giant speaker boxes are out). The first speaker that stood out to me was the JL W6 but compared to some others like the Hifonics Olympus 12" 3200w dual 2-ohm it looks like it is priced higher and isn't as powerful. If these two speakers are good, what kind of amp shoud I get for them? If the speakers aren't the best for around $300 or less, what should i look at? Lastly and very importantly, What would be the best type of box to optimize the punch in such a small space? k thanks guys!

Well, i installed a stereo ( head unit ) from wal mart... and when i went to put it in it wasnt color coded so i went to a site to figure out the change.. but after they were all together it didnt work.. so i was messing around and i touced two sets of wires together and it turned on... but it only sends sound out of the right side of my car.. i have a 95 jeep cheroke btw.. and the head unit is a sony cdx.. any help?

The bass does not work, but I can still hear just fine, but it sounds weird since there is no bass. I am assuming I need to replace the speakers but I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas before I purchase anything. Also, since it is not working, do I replace all the speakers? Could it be the main head unit? A tweeter? I am totally clueless but I have absolutely no bass so I am thinking maybe something is wrong with the main head unit. How do I diagnose this. Looking to replace the stock speakers in my girlfriend's car, a 2001 VW Jetta. I am looking to replace the two front speakers and the two rear speakers. Question #1 is do I need to disconnect the tweeters separately or will they be disconnected when the stock speakers are taken out? #2. I've just recently bought a car, and overall I'm very happy with it except for the sound system...which just consists of the factory stock tape player. What do I need to buy (deck module, subs, etc..) to have a nice sound system? Volume isn't a huge deal for me, and hopefully I could keep the price under a grand? Thanks people...

I have a 99 mercury cougar and I have a sony xplod cd player, with my original stock speakers. If I buy an amp and a subwoofer would I need to buy different speakers as well? Would buying new speakers alone drastically improve my sound quality? I mean i don't care if Im heard a mile away, Im mainly just looking for clean clear sound. Also which brands tend to be the best when it comes to the equipment.

Your thoughts of a "Car Audio" store downtown Bryan, OH?

What would be your thoughts of a car audio store, selling at wholesale price in downtown Bryan, Ohio? It is not a job that employs 100 people, but may open up the opportunity for window tinting, auto detailing, and much more. Car audio is not a "eed", but people are still buying, and it would add a little variety to the downtown stores. Any questions, comments, or concerns is helpful. Thanks in advance.

what kind of problems would I have connection car audio wire from stock 18 gauge to 16 gauge?

i have 16 gauge already and my stereo have stock 18 would there be a problem connecting them big problem, no problem or a quality problem?, or should i just spend my flow on the same wire
