why does my car alarm go off every time someone opens the door?

my previous car didn't have an alarm, and i just got a 2000 camry. almost every time someone opens the doors the alarm goes off, but not every time. i know a lot of other people with alarms and they don't do this. am i doing something wrong or is it malfunctioning? and can i make it stop? oh, and im pretty sure it is a factory alarm.

As long as you're disarming the alarm prior to opening the door (which it sounds like you're doing since the door is able to be opened), than no, the alarm shouldn't be going off like that. It sounds like it's malfunctioning. I'd try taking it somewhere to get it fixed. Take it to a Toyota dealership!

when your not using the car hit the lock once or twice untill it beeps/honks...and when your getting in unlock it again either once or twice untill the car locks open....dont try to manually unlock it with your keys if the alarm is activated or it will start crying and beeping
