what to expect for your car audio installation?

I'm thinking about service standards... Should wires be under carpet? Lights dim when sub is on? (possible blown fuse 1st day out). And to be picky... Should techs set your clock back? Make sure the CD they took out goes in the case right there? Box be fastened to car?

The head unit should fit like it belongs in the car, everything should work as advertised or expected, wiring should be routed and tied up following existing wiring. Basically, other than having new items installed, you should not be able to tell the difference, as far as quality, between the stock wiring and the new wiring. The store or installer should either set the clock or go over all the features with you so you know how to do it. And anything that was in the car should be back where it was found, including CDs in their cases.

im a professional installer, i dont know where you got it installed, but wires under carpet, vaccumm floors where we worked, setting all radio settings (your old presets, clock, eq). if there is no case for the cd, then i dont put it in a case, if there is one sitting there i put it away, not all installers will, its not really a policy i dont think, just courtesy. subs dimming lights is not their fault, its from your car being weak and your system being good. unless you wanteda cap or something they did all they could. blown fuse on first day is likely going to happen if you cranked the volume trying to draw too much current through the power wire. I've never fastened a box to the car unless it was paid for as an extra and asked for specifically.
