how do I tell if a CD/DVD player is compatible with my car?

I have put in a order for an 08 dodge charger and I want to order a Boss Audio BV9960 In-dash DVD/MP3/CD receiver with motorized flip out 7" TFT wide touchscreen. How can I tell if it is going to be compatible with my car?

As far as I know you should be able to get any head unit to work in any car, as long as you have a proper wiring kit, or enough electrical knowledge to wire it yourself. What I would concern myself with would be whether or not your screen will cover up any of the AC vents. That can be a pain on hot summer days.

You should check the dimensions of the receiver fits the dash of the car, if not you may need a mounting kit or to customize the dash area. For the electrical part it wont be a problem, unless the stock radio has part of the car electrical system connected to it like the chiming bells of the doors, the instrumental panel, etc.,, if that's the case you'll need an adapter interface to hook it up to the system.

Just make sure the screen will have enough room to tilt back enough to view, without the dash getting in the way. Other wise find out if the deck opening is a double din, if so than you have the option to get a 6.5" non-flip out unit, for a cleaner looking install. One thing you can do is go to crutchfield.com and do a search with your year and model to see what kind of head units fit, but becarefull some times it will mislead you saying a unit wont fit when all you need to do is cut out a piece of plastic in the back of your opening. Also I can tell you ebay is an awesome place to buy car audio, there are much better brands than Boss for rediculously low prices due to the fast moving technology for those kind of head units.

Any headunit (CD,Tape, Screen) should fit most cars. Check the dimensions of the unit and compare it to the stock console. The correct trim kit is needed, either prefabricated for your specific vehicle or custom made. Either way you should be able to fit an indash screen in a Charger with no problems.

If it's the same 07, you'll be fine. It will utilize Chryslers new Can-Bus system. Your BEST BET is to get the base audio system in the car. Have the parts dept. order the factory navigation bezel dash piece for you. Then, buy a double din receiver, buy the double din dash kit, and it will look factory in your dash. No cutting or modifying of anything. And make sure you get the Can-Bus adaptor, not a regular wiring harness. Gives you ignition power at the radio, speed sense if you're doing navigation, parking brake if you decide to abide by the law. Hope this helps!!
