Nope. You can just install a remote start. If your car has factory keyless entry, you should have a remote already, may I recommend a remote starter with a keyless entry system. You can then just need One remote instead of two. Because you'll have for the factory keyless and one for the remote start. By having a remote start with built keyless, you'll go down to having one aftermarket remote, with longer range as a bonus also.
May I recommend Viper systems. Best on the market. A system installed should run you about $150. Possibly more if your car needs a factory bypass module for the remote. It should. They run about $50 more. And you can do any of this, only if your car is an automatic transmission
