are tweeters good for speakers in car audio?

are they cheap? what else can I do to improve my car audio?

rgcaraudio 		If you mean tweeters only, no. In combination with a good mid-range, bass, and maybe a sub-bass, yes. There are many types, from cheap to hi dollar. Most folks ears can't tell the difference. Go with a bit under mid priced tweeter and you should be happy with its performance. Just be sure they can handle your amp's power output.

rgcaraudio 		To add to John B's answer, look for silk domed tweeters, they will not be as harsh to your ears as a metal dome tweeter will be, and you will get a much warmer sound from them.

rgcaraudio 		You could ad a tweeter to your car Stereo if you wanted and you may or may not get good results...what really makes a tweeter work right is the Cross- over You would be better off buying component speakers that come with a good cross over..That is why people go for components the drivers are pretty much the same, the difference is in the cross over, thats what creates the quality sound that you are looking for...
