Which head unit is better?

I want to be able to play music from my iphone in my car at the best possible quality, and be able to control the iphone through the car, so I was told I need something with a USB connection. I was looking at these two head units at best buy: Pioneer DEH-P3100UB: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9197166&type=product&id=1218056226796 Alpine CDE-102: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9176198&type=product&id=1218045946194 Are they worth purchasing? Which brand is better? I don't want to pay much more than 200 for the player. With installation and parts and insurance it will be around 300. I know practically NOTHING about car audio. I would be having them installed in a 2005 toyota matrix. I don't plan on installing new speakers, but I think the speakers in the car are fairly decent for factory speakers. They sound okay anyway. Any opinions on best buy, their installation services, protection plans, etc? Thank you!

Those are both excellent units! Pick which one looks better to you. Honestly, I dont like best buy. You can get one of these head units a tad cheaper online, and installing it yourself is not too hard. Although, the price difference is small, I would just buy it from best buy and let them install it, if you trust them.... Best buy is far too hit-or-miss with the installs. I have seen so many botched installs from them, i would never use them personally. Although some of their installers are decent for basic installs. And, its not really easy to mess up a basic head unit install! If you were getting a whole system, amps, components, subs, perhaps a professional shop would be better. And personally I never get the protection plans, the reason the protection plan is for them to make money! Read the fine print. Its not really worth it to get a few cleanings. Pioneer and alpine make sturdy units. If its cheap and helps you sleep at night.. whatever floats your boat, lol.

I recommend going to Amazon.com to get better and amazing prices. We got a Kicker L5 for $129 a box for $100 and a headunit for $167 and a 1000 Watt Amp for $118 we saved about 400 bucks.

Forget best buy, and Amazon, these people like being ripped off. Try this link, it is for an Alpine, which has the best sound reporduction. This unit is made for MP3 players, such as your iPhone, seeing how all it is, is an iTouch with phone call making abilities. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17570_Alpine+iDA-X303.html
