What are some common problems that come from these car audio components?

What are some common problems that in-dash receivers and full-range speakers have and what should i look for to ensure that they will not break down and that they will last the amount of time that they are worth spending for them.

I have never had any problems with any system I have ever own and I always do the install myself and I'm no expert. You will to be sure the receiver is properly grounded. Be sure the speakers are hooked up correctly (+ to + and - to -). Other factors I'm not to sure about would be wattage overload to your speakers. If after installation you hear a hum or no sound from a speaker this is most likely the wires connected to that speaker or loose or touching each other. Simply access the back of the speaker and pull the + and - away from each other or attach to speaker simple fix. I also suggest getting the extended warranty if you have it you won't need it but if you don't you'll wish you did.
