How to connect laptop to surround sound?

I want to know what cable I need in order to connect my laptop to my Sony Home Theater. I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI to watch movies but I want surround sound not my TV sound. My home theater has an audio in plug in on the front of the receiver but that is all. Can I use that hole, there are only two left and right which I use for the HD receiver and sound. Can I use a cable like an ipod uses to connect it to car radio or whatever

on the back of your tv there should be an audio out jack. I would connect the TV out to an audio in on the receiver. that would be the simplest fix. another way to go about this would be to get a rca to mini plug conversion cable and then connect the mini plug to the laptop in the headphone jack and connect the other end into your receiver. I would go with the first solution because you have a better chance of keeping all audio in digital format which offers true dolby sound.
