Do I need to use the crossovers to install coaxial convertible car speakers?

I want to pick up a set of MB Quart PVI-216s (http://www.mbquartusa.com/premium_speakers.html) for my car, which are coaxial/component convertible. If I install them like a coax, will I still need to mount the x-overs?

Yes, definitely. The crossover prevents bass and midrange sound from reaching the tweeter. If the tweeters are exposed to a full-range audio signal, they won't last long, regardless of where they're mounted.
