Car audio stops playing when it get loud?

when I turn my radio on in my car it works really nice, just when i turn it up loud in the mid 20's it doesnt play music, the radio it still on and shows the station or the cd im playing on it, It just doesnt make sound! why?

Sounds like part of your system has a built in circuit breaker that temporarily shuts down the amp to protect it. Just guessing, but the sound probably comes back on after a few seconds when it resets? If this is the case, this is a good thing, or else you would have had to replace part or all of your system by now.

mines use to do that too it protects the amp like answerer one said. if you adjust it to the right setting it wont do that. Mines would still hit hard i just didnt push my amp as hard as it could go
