Think about it this way : if 30x4 is causing distortion, and you have upgraded to Alpine speakers, which im betting the RMS is much higher then 30rms, then your headset is either A:) broken, or B:0 needs to be calibrated by changing the EQ.
I presume option B is the cause of your problems, you should go through, and lower everything...lows, mids highs... to the lowest setting, and then start by turning your radio up to full blast...the sounds should barely seem like your at full power. Then start with the HIGHS and turns those up to just below distortion, then do mids, then lows.
If you cannot do that process with success, then your radio is just old...which i have replaced one that couldnt be tuned properly, and the distortion now dissapeared. You might want to also check the wiring, older wiring sucks with Sound quality, and loose connections on the speaker terminals add to the problem.
You dont need an amplifier. A newer radio with better sound equalizers, is a better start. Also, get 2 more speakers...
