I think the 600 watt might be better to start. You don't want to over do it and blow your system. I'd also suggest you ask the guys at http://www.sonyxplodamp.com

Whats up man. This is the guy that bought your dual subs. Anyways... The power acoustik amp would be perfect for the 1 15. That sony amp sucks, the power acoustik amp is way better and stronger. Your wiring kit should be fine but it wont pull as much power to the amp as a bigger wiring kit would. I would turn the gain and the bass boost 1/4 of the way up to start out with. Just leave the subsonic and lpf where theyre at. Once you have everything hooked up right turn your music to the loudest volume that you would normally listen to. Now turn the gain down on the amp if the sub is distorting or is too loud for you, or turn it up if its not loud enough. A ported box will be louder than a sealed one. You can make a ported box by buying inserts. You cut a hole in the box and put the port in, but if you just flat out cut a hole in the box its gunna sound like crap. If I were you I would just look for a ported box for a 15" sub. You have to have a good box if you want your system to sound good. n2 is wrong use the power acoustik. It is 600 watts rms because I saw it and I was thinking about buying one so I would know.

it would really help if you had model numbers. 1200w sony could be a mono, 2 ch or 4 ch. It is probably around 500w rms. The memphis could be a dual 4, dual 2, single 4, it could be 1500w rms or 1500w max which could mean it's anywhere from 400-750w rms. Power Acoustik's usually advertise max power meaning that 600w amp might only be 200w rms. You can probably understand why model numbers would help. My GUESS is the Sony will provide a better level of power than the Pwr Ac will. Even the wiring kit -- it would be better just to know what size the wire is. A 680w rms kit would indicate around 8 guage, but 680w max is probably 10 gauge which is quite small. As for the enclosure. There's nothing wrong with using a sealed box. You can't just put a hole in it. The diameter of the hole and length of the tube have to be sized in order to arrive at a particular tuning frequency. And ported boxes require a lot more volume than sealed so if you built a sealed enclosure it is highly unlikely it is large enough to successfully add a port to.

You need to find out what model subs and amps you have. Find out which one best matches what the sub needs. Look at the rms wattage of each, and your wiring options. All of those peak ratings don't mean a thing. You also need to figure out how big the box should be to port it. Their should be a scale in the manual that lets you know what the sizes need to be for ported or sealed. If you post the model numbers of your equipment I'll check later and see if I can give you a hand with it.
