"Service Tire Pressure Monitor" Warning on Dash?

I get this message for the tire I had replaced around 3 months ago- could the tire shop have damaged the sensor? I get the warning every OTHER day on my 90 mile round trip commute. The tire pressure is fine, I check with an external gauge, but the pressure on the monitor reads "XX".

Well usually that means that the tire pressure is low...and all you gotta do is put some air in it

It is possible, but i would have the tire pressure checked before I made any rash accusations.

These warning lights typically come on immediately or soon after a tire replacement or rotation. Was this the case with you or did it just start showing up recently? If it's been happening for a while, you can probably refer to your vehicle owners manual for the proper procedure to reset the vehicle tire pressure sensor and see if that helps first.

They work off of wheel speed. If your tires don't have the same circumfrence as the stock ones, which is typical if you use the same size by a different manufactuer. If it bugs you real bad you could take it to a dealer or maybe the tire shop and have them reset the computer with your new tire.

Take the vehicle back to the shop to have the system re-programmed. TPMS technology is still a bit dodgy sometimes.
